I'm not "celebrating" anything.

I don't believe McMicheal will be murdered in prison, nor do I advocate that it should happen (by the same token, I don't care, and would not shed a single tear if it did). I'm simply smiling at the fact that this racist, murdering piece of human trash will spend the next few years looking over his shoulder, in fear of his life... just like his victim did in the several minutes leading up to his brutal murder.

Karma and Consequences are the twin-bitches of Justice!

Strange fruit seems like the obvious endgame.

But honestly? Vigilante justice, as bad as it is, would still be better than the criminals brutalizing other criminals in a dysfunctional prison system, that smartcooky assures us he's not celebrating.

Indeed.

Scum like the McMichaels' need to be safe in prison so that they can contemplate the scummyness that put them in the position they now find themselves. I want them to have the ability to think about what they did; to think about the decisions they made, and to contemplate their self-engineered misfortune, as well as to be looking over their shoulders for their potential killer for every day of the remainder of their miserable, incarcerated lives. I want them to feel sorry for themselves, and to suffer unending abject fear, the same way they made Ahmaud Arbury suffer abject fear before they ended his life - and that can't happen if someone gives them the easy way out.

I definitely don't want him to die. That would be next level terrible. I'd much, much, much rather he live a long, almost freakishly long, life behind bars. The longer he lives, the better.

He, and his ilk, stalked, tormented and murdered a man who had done absolutely nothing wrong. They are serving their time for that crime. Whatever happens, happens. I won't lose any sleep about it at all.

Better people get hurt in our prison systems.

I was wondering when the inevitable "Oh I suddenly just remembered I care about people now that the person in danger is a white racist" part of the discussion was going to happen.

If you didn't show unprompted, open and honest, real concern for Arbery, I don't care to hear your handwringing about what's going to happen to his killers in jail.

I don't want anything to happen to McMichaels, but I get to say that because I didn't wait to just now to remember caring about other people is something we should do.

I find it weird that none of the news articles I've read seem to have any actual evidence of people threatening to kill him. He should have something at least, if the 800+ figure is true. I'm not expecting a recording or anything of that nature, but none of those threats were written? Email? Letters? Nothing? So basically on 800+ different occasions someone walked by him and said, "I'm going to kill you!" and that's it?

What I think this boils down to is federal time is easier to serve. The facilities are generally nicer, the food is better...kind of, and you can get more with funds that are given to you (snacks, drinks, etc.).

That being said, I don't think being a fat, white boy in the Georgia Prison system would be all that pleasant. So he might be getting threatened.

That's a bummer. That's a bummer for him. He should have kept his bitch ass inside of his house instead of playing cop.

You must have missed it. We've already had at least one of those apologists post here.

Indeed. Cletus, Bubba and Billy-Bob are the only people responsible for the situation they find themselves in... serving life with no parole.

Furthermore, this is about only three things IMO

1. Punishing them for their murderous behavior.
2. Keeping the community safe.
3. Sending out a clear warning to others who might consider carrying out a lynching.

I have no interest in their rehabilitation, because I don't believe people with their mindset can ever be rehabilitated - once a racist scumbag, always a racist scumbag (with very few exceptions).

I do have sympathy for Travis McMichael's immediate family - his wife Nicole and his son Everett. She is now effectively a single mum with a young child to raise, and the boy will grow up without his father - none of which is their fault. I would argue that the boy might be better off not having the influence of racist scumbags like his father and grandfather in his life, although who knows how much racism runs through the rest of the clan?

Along with wishing him long life in a Georgia prison, I hope he gets paired with a companionable cellmate, such as a former POTUS.

I hardly think the people supposedly sending him the death threats are writing the letters or making the death-threat phone calls from actual prison; so logically, none of the people threatening him are physically in prison and that would seem to make prison the best place to put him in order to keep him safe from those threatening him.

Hearing delayed for that DA who didn't pursue charges. Should be interesting

Well, well, the law might move slowly, but at least it moves in Georgia. I’m certain that DA went from “well I’ve done my duty ensuring those white gun owners got off” to “okay, can’t win them all” to “I might be in a spot of bother here” to “oh ****”.

I hope she does serious time.

Well her argument is that she recused herself from the investigation, but she fails to mention that she did so only after interfering in it to have no charges laid. Her attempts to get Cletus, Bubba and Billybob off for murdering Arbury were nothing short of race-based corruption and obstruction of justice.

I think she'll do some time, but not a lot. She should certainly never be allowed in future to hold any kind of office in any branch of law enforcement.
