He came back as Jefferson and Madison? They were contemporaries. How can someone be reincarnated simultaneously in two people?

BTW, Jefferson was a phenomenal writer. It's a shame that such skills are lost in the process of metempsychosis.

Jefferson was Madison's puppet.

Jefferson never did anything after 1779, unless it was approved by Madison first.
 
James Madison is not alive today. That is all that matters.

However, I am confident Jesus would want us to help the Haitians as much as we can. And help them to become self-sufficient once the major crisis is over.

And how would ceasing government aid to Haiti prevent you (or anyone else) from picking up the banner and doing something yourself?

And like most easy answers, it turns out to be wrong.

Parky, I'm pretty sure, does not have the resources of the 82nd Airborne Division. Nor is parky in position of an aircraft carrier to deliver aid by air. Parky does not have a hospital ship such as the USS Comfort. I rather doubt that parky has access to thousands of troops which are actively involved in distribution of aid and rescue operations.

In short, unless you have realistic ideas of how to help the Haitian people through this catastrophe, I suggest you sit back, enjoy a nice, tall, frosty glass of STFU and save the Libertoptian horsecrap for a slightly less inappropriate occasion.

the United States govt. has a plethera of resources that most private aid organizations do not.

and yes Cleon, my hospital ship is in the shop, my aircraft carrier is having its brakes redone, and my bulldozers all need oil changes.

I like Madison, he had lots of good ideas. And in fact his statement is more or less true as far as it goes. However, it is also true that even in Madison's day the executive had the power to make binding treaties with other governments (Article II, section 2) that could indeed require the expenditure of funds, deployment of troops, or whatever other obligations the treaty required.

By virtue of the US participation in various world bodies such as the UN, the executive can and does, with the advice and consent of the Senate, make such treaties. Additionally, as commander in chief the executive has the authority to order troops into the field for such purposes as the executive believes are necessary for the security of the United States.

That is more than enough authority for the executive to send troops to Haiti and to specify that funds be spent to do so as well as providing humanitarian aid under the auspices of our UN agreements.

And this is true even without getting into a discussion of the the differences between the constitution as it is in 2010 vs how it stood in 1789.

Was there some point you were trying to make here?
