Merged James Madison on Various Topics

I knew James Madison. James Madison was a friend of mine. You, Shamalar, are no James Madison!

You're repeating yourself. (And it was neither true nor clever the first time you tried it.)

Next you'll probably reply to a question challenging your bizarre assertions by saying, "You figure it out."

You just want to force others to pay, then beat your chest.

:p

Oh well that's different then. If we are talking about a James Madison that you know and not the founding father, please do tell, what else does Jimmy Mads have to say?

You are not an authority on the founding father's beliefs. You have no magic to tell exactly what they would have thought.

This has nothing to do with Madison. You are wrong. Why do you hate America? :D

I am channeling the ghost of James Madison, and he, Like the ghost of Galileo, are sick and tired of Internet Kooks ruining their good name.

1. Dead dudes have very little authority.
2. I take it that means you have total respect for, and obedience to, your duly elected President?

No, I pay homage to the Founding Fathers of our nation, those great men who stepped forward at a crucial point in our history and built a new nation based on freedom. They built a democratic republic so that we all could enjoy the blessings of liberty.

Those Founding Fathers are those who:

signed the Declaration of Independence

signed the Constitution

did other important stuff back then.

;)

"Pay homage to" I guess means "take their words out of context and use them to support whatever I want them to support with no evidence they would have felt that way."

So "pay homage to" is kind of like a cross between plagiarism and disrespect in your world?

You seem to know about as much of our beloved Fouinding Fathers as Palin.

No, I pay homage to the Founding Fathers of our nation,

James Madison says you shouldn't pay homage to the Founding Fathers of our nation.
Therefore, you are violating the very principles on which this country was founded --- as expressed by the very Founding Father you like to cite -- by paying homage to the Founding Fathers.

But then ...we might have to ...THINK FOR OURSELVES!

Has anyone pointed out that the Federal Government's so called aid to Haiti historically includes murdering them by the thousands, a la the Duvaliers' reign of terror?

Before one donates to an organization, one should always consider the organizations historical reputation. This includes government.

Does anyone have any intelligent comments on this post?

I'm not used to a post not being instantly attacked by the rabble.

Or at the very least back up our opinions with some actual argumentation or evidence rather than a misplaced (and false) appeal to authority.

You just want me to appeal to your authority. According to your authority, I should not appeal to the authority of James Madison. But since I will not bow to your authority, I will not bow to your proclamations.

Instead, I will heed the great wisdom of our greatest Founding Father, the beloved James Madison.

Then heed your own quote of him:
""Do not separate text from historical background."
That is exactly what ALL of your "Madison on..." OP's are doing.
Like I said, in your world "pay homage to" means a mixture of plagiarism and disrespect.

I honestly believe you are hiding your opinion behind a Madison quote so that you can continue to evade challenges to it.

If you believe that big and complex legislation is wrong, do you suppose the healthcare bill is the first ever big and complex bill?

Why is big and complex legislation bad when the subject of it is also big and complex?

"Ignorance of the law is no excuse".

That means the laws must be short and relatively simple for a civilized society to function properly.

Or maybe it means you have a responsibility in a civilized society to educate yourself so you don't break the law.
