It is very hard to do, considering that some of them are contradictory with others. There are many Christian sects. They don't agree on the teachings of Christ. That's why in any discussion of beliefs it is important to establish in detail what the beliefs of each person are. Saying "I believe the bible" is not enough. You have to say which parts.

What is a christian to do eh? Does he believe Paul when he says that scripture is the infallible word of God, and therefore he should destroy his enemies, or does he believe Matthew who reckoned that Jesus was all about the love?

Yeah, that's true. Problem is knowing which times are which. In this, the bible is more than a little bit fuzzy. Of course there's something to be said for a religion that can assure you that whatever your moral beliefs are, God is in favor of them.

Sure, but I don't claim base my moral beliefs on scripture, and then go on to reinterpret them to fit my fancy. Do you see the hypocricy? Either the bible is a meaningful guidebook to morality, and can actually teach us something, or we can just use it to prop up our prior beliefs.
It can't be infinitely maleable and still be a useful foundation for beliefs.

Often it's not "reinterpreting" that is occurring. One person, in a particular frame of mind, quotes one verse that justifies his act/emotion/outlook.

Another person, in a different frame of mind, quotes a verse that is diametrically opposed to the verse quoted by the first person.

Different outlooks at different times to different folks.

"For all things, there is a season," and seasons may be different for different people.

It can also be completely ignored.

It can also be directly opposed as "meaningless", or "drivel".

It all depends on the person considering it.
