I'll Have The Kitten Salad On Rye

Where is there an ad for beef steaks at the top of the page?

And the cat on the left seems to be simultaneously eating and pooping a live fish.

Oh dear.

A few days ago a rather bleeding-heart friend forwarded me a PETA email. It didn't download properly, and I actually deleted it without trying to access the video clip attached.

The text of the email described the video as depicting the skinning-alive of puppies for fur. Support was solicited for a petition demanding the banning of this practice.

I have heard from elsewhere that there have been well-documented instances of cats in particular being skinned alive in China. I don't know how old these reports are though. The idea upsets me probably more than anything else I can think of, short of Nazi concentration camp practices. However, what is the likely provenance of the PETA video I didn't watch? Given their track record, I'm seriously sceptical.

And I think getting up a petition is as likely to alter anything like this as baying at the moon.

Rolfe.

I'm torn on PETA's banned Superbowl ad. On the one hand, I don't want that ridiculous veggie propaganda being exposed to so many drunk stupid people, on the other hand, girls in bathing suits pissing off the prudes is always fun.

PETA's made the news twice this week. That means, per my e-mail promise to them, I have two veal dinners to eat before Sunday. :p

PETA makes a stupid argument/analogy?

Wow. Who'd have thought?

I love how people seem to think that all vegetarians/vegans are PETA freaks, though. I also love the whole "They argue against eating meat, so ergo I must eat more meat just to piss them off". Yeah, you're so much more mature than them.

My husband mentioned this. If you don't have to pay for the actual ad prior to getting your ad approved, then this seems to be a GREAT way to get Super Bowl hype without having to pay the incredible sum needed for the actual ad. Get yourself rejected -- in an ad featuring scantily-clad women, no less -- and the news outlets will do all your advertising for you for free (or a fraction of the cost if you have to pay a deposit for the Super Bowl spot). Seems like a terrific strategy. Would PETA actually pay for the ad space if the Super Bowl came back and said, "okay, no problem with your ad"?

No, all PETA freaks are vegetarians/vegans, but not all vegetarians/vegans are PETA freaks. Its like those logic puzzles in grade school.

:D

I think they are fish wearing cat skins from actual skinned cats. There must have been a fight over them, as some fish could manage only to secure certain parts, like paws, or ears, or noses. One fishie got himself an entire dead cat to wear, though, how lucky! Ok, maybe not so much for the cat...

Hi. Do I know you? Anyways.

Thanks for the lesson on high school logic. I'm entirely sure that I needed your expertise. I'll be sure to return the favor someday.

Well Lonewulf it's the non PETA freaks fault. It doesn't need a high school degree to know that the ones that yell the loudest are the ones that everyone associates a group with. So here is a helpful hint. Yell louder and stop whining.
I also love the whole "They argue against eating meat, so ergo I must eat more meat just to piss them off".
Hasty generalization.
Yeah, you're so much more mature than them.
This is PETA. It's almost impossible not to be more mature than them.

I never claimed to be mature. :D

Yeah, probably fake, but still funnier than hell.

Mm.. Surf and Turf....

I saw this about a week ago and wondered if it was a joke, Like BPSCG I had Adblock on so missed that subtle hint at the top.

Edited to add: I now noticed that if you go to the actual Peta website, there are no links to this supposed campaign, so even with adblock on there are clues. It's a slick piece of work though.(Oops, see below):o
