I Am Soul

If you cannot understand what I have said, which is quite elementary, that is your problem. Do not blame someone else.

No, it's actually your problem... because, presumably, you are trying to communicate something... right? There is some reason that you are posting. But no one seems to be understanding whatever it is that you are communicating. No one. So unless you are posting here just to make yourself feel heard or to prop up some belief of yours... you are not accomplishing whatever your intent of posting is. You are not communicating anything that is coherent to anyone else.

Perhaps your intent is to amuse? Troll?

Come on Maatorc, tell us why you came to this forum and why you decided to post in this thread. Maybe we can help you accomplish your goal.

The religious: Look the apple is red.

Skeptic: But why is it red.

The religious: Because it is red.

Skeptic: That still doesn’t tell me why it is red.

The religious: Well just look at it, it looks red.

Skeptic: I’m still waiting for you tell my why it looks red.

The religious: Because it is red, it is therefore red, see it is right before you and it looks red.

Skeptic: That still doesn’t tell me why it looks red.

The religious: Well you have to have faith, it is red because so-called god made it red.

Skeptic: I’m still waiting on why it looks red.

You is a naming word?

I confess that I don’t know exactly why I decided to taint your temple with my presence.
Maybe it was boredom, maybe it was curiosity.
Certainly I am not regretting doing so, because I am learning so much.

One thing I am learning is how a brain views things. How those who believe in the brain as the source of all phenomenon and explanation of abstract occurrence that cannot be measured or detected through any of the known sensory systems.
I see too that it is very important for these ones to stay close to the proper use of language and not veer away from the rules.
I myself find this particular use of language to be a tool of limitation because it lacks tolerance and acts more as both shield and sword for those who demand it in others.

Shield, because it is useful for fending off and sword because it is useful for slicing up.
(even computer says that last sentence is fragmented and that I should consider revising)

Whatever.

You say I rape language. You say I need to get a dictionary. You say I am in need of propa syntax.

I say, that if the first step to good communication is about learning the same language, then the wall remains.
It also shows me that for some, intelligence in them and in others is measured by how well the language is used.
If this is the case then I hope the dream of having a ‘woo’ free world isn’t a something you think will happen ever.

Another thing I noticed, which is handy is that because things exists, let us focus on these.
Like the professor who looks like Santa and shows us that all things can be explained hypothetically by simple using the equipment we can readily measure.

It is all about the brain. And since we don’t know that much about the brain ( we know a lot but it is only the tip of the iceberg) we can no the less hypothesis about anything as long as we keep it within the framework of the brain.

Move away from that and you enter ‘wooland’

It’s ALL the brain!

That is reasonable.

STX NUL ACK?

Effective communication requires well defined protocols.

It also shows me that for some, intelligence in them and in others is measured by how well the language is used.

It gives a vague indication.

Duh it's ripe now eat it!

If our sun were blue what color would it be?
Sometimes the green ones are ripe and they never get red.
So maybe the green ones are really red and the red ones are really green.
But the are both ripe.
Think out side your box!

If one wouldn’t let every nonsense idea in the box, then one wouldn’t continuously have to think outside of it. ;)

If one wouldn’t let every nonsense idea in the box, then one wouldn’t continuously have to think outside of it.
If that was ture we would still be riding horses.
We then wouldn't know better and that would be ok too.

I disagree.
I feel it is the responsibility of the person speaking (or typing) to make their messages clear, concise, and easily understandable. If people have trouble understanding you, it isn't their fault.
I don't expect you to have to decode what I say - if I write something that makes no sense to you - I should expect it to be my responsibility to clear it up, not you.

The ideas and words employed are basically simple English.
The terminology is not innately obtuse or obscure, and should not present any difficulty of comprehension to normally informed adults.

Speak for yourself, thank-you, and by the way, they know how a bee flies now.

So you would make up a idea like a soul, oh boy, that explains everything, soul, all in one little word, geee.

I think I'm going to abandon ship... this thread started with a woo and has become majorly woo infested...

tsk tsk... there's no escape... even on a skeptics forum they come to preach.

(Note to self: avoid threads clearly started by woo unless seeking new candidates for ignoring.)

The gentle, mild mannered, soft spoken Symmetry?

Phhiit! Maybe you're right.

Skeptic: Why is what red.?

Skeptic: The apple

Skeptic: What apple?

Skeptic: Look the banana is yellow

Are you trying to imply that we're dishonest? If so, can we have some examples of that?

I think what Paulhoff is trying to say is that simply saying that "it's red" is not enough. We have to define what red means, if we all see red in the same way, and questions of that nature.

In the same way that I asked what you meant by soul and other terms you used. We can't just use words and assume everyone understands what we mean, sometimes we have to go deeper and gain a mutual understanding before we can truly communicate.
