How's that recount coming along? (Iran)

Protester 1: Sure, we could all stay home and quietly accept the results of a blatently stolen election...

Protesor 2: But we reject the American way of life!

That "joke" doesn't make sense.

There has never been a stolen US presidential election.

Yes, you probably didn't notice. It's also funny because if it wasn't for the US and its former imperial masters Iran would quite likely be a mature, secular democracy by now.

It's shameful that the US exists, at all, isn't it? Someone should just blow us right off the map.

No... no, there hasn't. You are wrong.

See? There you go again. Acting as though flatulent conspiracist fantasies are actual real world events.

You need to stop that. You are hurting only yourself.

Can't I explain why someone should blow the us off the map and hurt myself with some more flatulence first?

Actually, if they had kept it up, probably would have been fine . As it was, twenty some odd years of lesser function by a long shot. The first step is to kick out the fundies. Not bow down to them.

40 million ... in 90 minutes. That's so convincing. Just how stupid do they think the rest of the world is? Reuters (just 2 - 3 weeks before the election) showed a lead for I'madinnerjacket by only 2 - 1; at least if you're going to lie, try and make it believable.

Well, IIRC, Saddam, before the second invasion, had an "election", where he won 100% of the vote, and 100% of the population voted.

How many votes did each individual vote counter have to count?

Doubt it.

Why?

*update*

Iranian state television said on Wednesday a partial recount of the vote in the country's disputed June 12 presidential election had verified the result.

Iran's English-language Press TV said in a scrolling headline: "Iran: partial vote recount verifies election result." It did not give details.

The re- recount

Although we saw last Wednesday's official announcement that a recount had been conducted and the voting 'verified', in the meantime the Iranians are contiunuing to doubt it.

So, in the face of ongoing protests and refusal of people to accept the statements of the results, today AP is reporting that "In an attempt to placate protesters, Iran conducted a partial recount Monday of votes cast in the country's disputed presidential election..."

None of these claimed 'partial recounts' are being conducted in public view, and Iranian authorities have barred journalists for international news organizations from reporting on the streets and ordered them to stay in their offices.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, if even a single ballot box was chosen completely at random, and opened in front of a TV audience, that would be a reasonable representation of the true vote.
