How do pagans celebrate Christmas?

Ever since sin entered this world people have suffered. A loving caring God has given us a way out. He has promised to make all things new. A new heaven and earth where our creator will someday wipe every tear away. There will be no more suffering in heaven, and I believe the promises!!
Huh? When did He make this promise? Of course, you should always think the best of people (and God), so I don't object to you believing He'll keep the promise... but are you sure God promised you this? If God wanted the world to be like that, wouldn't He have created it that way from the start?

Is there anything worth studying in heaven?
Hope not... then I would never find peace. :D

Hah, very true. But I still can't help but feel there is something shady behind all three of these sales people.
True. Car and insurance salesmen will lie about the nature of their products, but at least we have evidence that those products do exist. The same can't be said for religion salesmen.

I'm sorry if this really happened to you? Sounds like not the real deal or Satan had some real strongholds on Him? Could it be that you both provoked eachother to anger? It can be ugly to see what both people might have done to make that situation become out of control. I have a hard time thinking marital problems are one sided? Did you ever hit Him?

No. I also never gave him syphillis (twice), put him at risk for AIDS, or tried to hit him with my car. He was a drunk, lady. The debbil didn't make him do it--the booze he chose to drink and the drugs he chose to ingest did it to him.

I think the big factor here is that even if He was or is wrong, you need to forgive him. Have you done that? You won't heal from that kind of hurt unless you do. I hope you are doing OK now. I would also hope you wouldn't blame God for what your ex-husband did to you!

I notice when speaking about my ex, you referred to him as "He." Quite fitting, as our family nickname for him was "God."

At any rate, it would be totally irrational for me to blame something that doesn't exist for my poor choices and my ex-husband's sociopathy. I married a drunk when I was 18. I divorced him when I was 31. One bad choice, one good choice. And I made them both. Simple, really.

I don't forgive people who don't want my forgiveness, and who refuse to even speak to me. I haven't spoken to the man in eleven years, and we live in the same town. He hides behind his wife and says she'll get angry if we speak (or so my sons tell me) because she thinks I want him back.

So this means there are two very deluded people living not too far from me, and at least one on this board.

Wow.... I never got a round of applause before. Thank you. Have a hug. Oh, heck, have two.

(pssst...I get to start my student teaching in January. I'm pretty proud of me, too. )
Technically, that's a line of applause...here's your round of applause

You deserve more, but it's the best I can manage.

But it's not about trying to be spiritual or religious. If we accept Christ then we have a relationship with God. There is no more searching once the Son makes Himself known to you! This is something He promises to do if we seek Him with all our heart and mind. The search is over for me. And in my past I too tried many New Age beliefs...but all left me wanting the truth. There is a void in everyman without Christ!
I would respond with a carfully composed responce, one that I poured my heart out into, but history has shown that it does no good...so I'll respond with

Or, maybe the guy was just an a$$hole and the fictional Satan had nothing to do with it.

Real nice...blame the victim some more, why don'tcha?

How about she just gets away from him? I think that'll be a better solution.

Wow - kmortis,

This forum never ceases to amaze me - I never realised that Biomechanoids had such deep feelings!

Or, if that's not really true, I hope you can get cream for them.....

Slingblade - bravo for getting up and getting out.

kurious kathy - do you really think its appropriate for anyone to beat anyone else because they are angry?

It's all rather off topic now but I'm still wondering what Kathy has to say about the fact that Christmas has blatantly nothing to do with her Jesus's birth? Why this time of year when it certainly wouldn't be the most likely date of birth given the mythology's timeline? Oddly close to solstice. And so on...

In fact how would a True Christian celebrate Christmas is what I want to know. It can't possibly resemble anything I'd recognise given all the above information in the thread about its pagan origins.

Wow. Impressive. I never thought anyone would have the bad taste to surpass 1inCh's healing fiasco, but you've proven me wrong.

Of course it is. How many times did God do this according to the Bible?

But in a loving fashion. Remember that, all that smiting in anger was done lovingly.

kurious kathy (should I yodel? I'm not getting any responses. It can't be the coffee breath, she's not close enough), have you ever read C.S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters"? He has some interesting paragraphs regarding self-delusion. Oh, and he's a Christian.

There is only one God! The others are demons who try to trick people. I have heard of many Wiccans and Satanist being turned around by the power of the one true God, Jesus. The only way to the Father is through the Son.

If there is only one God, then why did YHWH have to make a law that says you shall worship no gods besides him? Why did he have to introduce himself to Moses as "the god of thy father, Abraham." If he was the only god, he wouldn't have to do these things.

I can see why Kathy is not quite prepared for a forum full of educated people. Apparently George Bush posts there, based on one forum topic...
"Is there any abosolutes?"

I think this quote from Firestream pretty much sums up Kathy's position:

History is a great way to learn about some things, but you would be surprised how many are decieved by some of the scientific findings out
there. I've come accross a group of atheists on Forums that are total skeptics because of logic, if then thinking. They want documented proof. Satan has so many strongholds on people. It's scary!

:jaw-dropp

So science is a tool of Satan, to be discarded anytime it contradicts the Bible. OK everybody, throw out your globes! The Earth is flat again. Praise Jesus!
