Of course, you've made some deeper research on this than I did...We have to very careful because the current modern form of the hebrai tradition was filtered to remove the polytheistic elements of the hebrai and caanan blendings, there are those who claim the current modern rabbinical tradition is actively suppressing the dead sea scroll because they are not abot montheistic essenes but about polytheistic saducees.
I agree with you that we have to be careful but we also need to be mindful that even prior to the babylonian exile there was some heavy editing of the hebrai oral tradition.
All I mean is that translating 'elohim' to 'gods' is an extreme simplification. It's sort of understandable when it's translated to 'God' in the Bible - after all, almost all of the jews and christians today believe there is only one God and to most people (fortunately) the Bible is not a historical book but a religious one. But outside religious matters, one shouldn't jump to conclusions like that.
