How do pagans celebrate Christmas?

Believe me, I know. But there's that stubborness in me that just believes that maybe I can say something she'll understand over all the other posts she's read. A bit arrogant to be sure, but that's my natural curiosity. I do recognize from reading her threads going all the way back to earlier in the year that I wont get a straight or even legible answer.

Still, sometimes it's nice to really understand the person you're dealing with is a bit touched in the head rather than just misunderstanding your point. It makes /ignore a bit easier.
I really think that that "New Blood" moniker should be changed to "Don Quixote" for the number of times (myself included) newbies thought that they could pierce the veil. I commend you, Levantine, I just don't hold out any hope, THAT'S still at the bottom of the box.

Then again, they might be giants....

Yeah, I know the feeling. I took a run at Iacchus in another thread until I noticed the blood running down my forehead from where I kept hitting that brick wall. . .

Now I've got a flat spot on my head, and my hat doesn't fit right anymore!
:D

This doesn't change the fact that He is faithful to forgive us if we come to the cross. Jesus is the only one who can forgive us. Every single person that ever lived was and is a sinner that only God's grace can save, but we must believe in Jesus and what He did on that cross. I know it's true.
Kathy, I'm curious (pun intended). Why did god have to torture the He-double hockey sticks out of his beloved son to provide an example? Couldn't he have settled for something less extreme and less painful. Say, a tasteful ad campaign? Some really impressive miracles? I mean if he's all powerful, couldn't he have convinced people in some less extreme and messy way? And if you say that it wasn't god that did the torturing, that it was those nasty Romans and Israelites, well, if god created all people, were they the vehicles of his plan? So that puts it right back smack in god's lap. I've always wondered about that.

HAHAHAHA Iacchus was mine as well. Good times, good times.

At least that what they tell me, the concussion blocked out most of my memories of that time period.

I wonder if there is some link between fanatical zealotry and intelligence or is it a sort of malfunction in the brain. I've met any number of intelligent and highly educated people who believe all sorts of supernatural stuff but that's not really what I'm talking about. I'm referring to the really whacko end of the belief scale. Do they suffer from some sort of mental disability or are they simply not too bright and don't really have to ability to understand what people are saying to them?

Once again, I'm making a distinction here between somebody who simply believes some sort of god(s) exists and gets on with his life without bothering others, and the Kathys of the world who just don't seem to get it.

I've read too many Iacchus threads to even tilt at that windmill. I have put him on my ignore list as soon as I registered. When I was lurking, I'd get nosebleeds just reading his posts. Don't need none of that now. :)

Still, over in "Does Matter Exist", Bruto seems to be showing some staying power. Maybe we should start a pool on when the repetitive brain damage takes its toll and he gives up. . .

So, God chose the Isrealites to be his "special chosen people", not the Caananites, Philistines, or any of the other tribes of the area. Then he punished the other tribes for not being his "special chosen people". And this is love to you, is it? Neat...here's your sign.

Bravo, kmortis. This has been one of my big gripes about judaism and christianity but I rarely seem to be able to communicate my point.

It’s exactly like a parent with a favorite child who then beats the other child because he’s not the favorite.

god = convictable of every felony in the book, also a psychopathic narcissist with homicidal tendencies

Actually no one can convert anyone...this is the work of the Holy Sprit in peoples lives. And believe me when a person comes to true faith in Christ they have a change of heart.

I was born again for a while. I suppose that funny old holy spirit just got tired and left me.

It's called conviction! This is the one thing people need more of in our world.

I know you won’t answer, but do you really think that conviction is in and of itself an admirable trait?

What scares me is seeing how many just don't care. They say and do things just to try to hurt the other guy. I don't like that.

Then stop doing it.

Smart man! I don't bother reading any post started by Iacchus or Iaame. Saves time.

Ah, now I know this one ... don't tell me ... yeah, that's it : "There Is No Redemption Without Blood!". I heard that from Ian Paisley, so it's straight from the horse's arse.

I am honored that I did not make it onto your ignore list as soon as you registered!

:)

Ha! You may be a very vocal poster, but you strive to give and receive respect, even when you've been slighted. To ignore that would be to ignore the best this forum has to offer.

Flattery will get you everywhere ;)

Holy chicken. The b******t is getting so deep, I'm gonna need wings to stay above it.

Oops, when I type like this, people can read me.

I will beat you down with my spine.
Fowl, next time I'm in the Twin Cities, i'll take you to Brits, k?

And before you ask, I plan on coming out there to visit my buddy and Mama's best friend within the next two years, so this is no idle threat.

Sounds good.

Or there's always the Liffey. :)

Just head to Mears park and shout my name. I'll hear you from my window.

How sad. Our chew toy has departed for the evening. No doubt she had to go to evening prayers to praise Jebus! (I'm really not so evil minded...it's just that fundamenalists like KK bring out the worst in me --- forgive me lord!)

Well for that time in history the crucifiction was popular by the Romans. I'm sure God could have chose a different time and place if He wanted to. Seems some questions will just have to wait for eternity. Only God knows why for lots of things. I myself have tons of questions for people I am looking forward to meeting in heaven. And don't you remember how they mocked Jesus? They said if you are God why don't you get yourself down off this cross. He didn't because He knew what He needed to do to save us. The one Holy sacrafice! He hung there blameless on that cross for everyone of us! That's all I know. It was our sin that put Him there. He loved us while we were yet sinners, died to redeem this fallen world. We could never repay that debt.
