Holocaust denial and Truthers

One wonders if the fact that he was bipolar, on a lot of medication and in and out of mental institutions is of greater relevance than being a Truther?

Just a thought.
Anyway, he doesn't seem to be a very good shot. Seems an interesting story though

The Bedell family put out a statement Friday saying they were "devastated as a family by the news."

"We may never know why he made this terrible decision," the statement said. "One thing is clear though — his actions were caused by an illness and not a defective character."

The San Jose Mercury News reported Bedell attended San Jose State University and was enrolled in fall 2009 in the graduate electrical engineering program. He did not enroll for 2010. A professor remembered him as one of the best circuit design students in his class, the newspaper said.

Investigators were trying to unravel a bizarre series of Internet postings that suggested Bedell was fascinated with conspiracy theories, computer programming, libertarian economics and the science of warfare.

Curiously, Bedell also proposed in 2004 that the Pentagon fund his own research on smart weapons. The 28-page proposal outlined his idea for DNA nanotechnology research that might "provide significant new capabilities for the Department of Defense and the individual warfighter."

I think anyone who can be fascinated by computer programming is likely to be a danger both to himself and society.

Or vice-versa...

You might find the work of Ronald Laing interesting. As a cliche you might say he holds society constructs schizophrenia.

Just a bit of a random google came up with this link to introduce him to you
http://christopherrichards.com/self-and-others.html

With examples from clinical experience and theory, existential literature, fine art, and children's stories, R. D. Laing illustrates how the pressures of conformity act upon individuals in society. Authority figures judge others and create realities for both themselves and for those being judged. We are constantly being influenced by other people and the environments they create

And I am sure you do an excellent job, SoT.

And if, by over-vigilance, you stray a little beyond your remit of Al-Queda and the KKK.....well, you can't be too careful, can you?

Do truthers and holocaust denial overlap?

In my view, less than you would expect.
Most truthers won't embrace Holocaust denial because they like Nazism is the embodiment of human demonic evil as something they can compare whoever they finger the for 911, eg The Bushitler. The idea of evil is a very comforting paradigm for a truther and one which we have been culturally atuned to encompass Nazism.

Few "name" Deniers will embrace truthism because they believe it will harm their "credibility", they are seeking to construct a historical narrative complete with normal academic trappings so being associated with Truthism is just a distraction. The rank and file deniers, of which i am only aware of less than 100 active on the Internet worldwide (but then I don't monitor places like Stormfront or VNN) will tend towards some aspects of Truthism.

The one area there is a bit of overlap is the people who claim Mossad did 911.
These will often indulge in a bit of soft Jeff Rense like denial.

As far as Killtown, if he/she is associated with Webfairy, I think they were both quite enamoured with the idea of Nazism as ultimate evil to ever seriously indulge in HD.

Nazism the ultimate evil? Please tell my why you believe this and how you measure evil.

for some people the industrializing of genocide like the Nazis did, is rated pretty bad.

Do you consider the Nazis to be good guy or bad guys?

I hope you found time to visit all the tasteful memorials to the holocaust that are scattered all over germany to ensure the people never forget their shame. I was visibly moved as I was when I visited Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. Did you get to see the memorials?

No Holocaust memorials in Scotland? What a pity.

I have visited Anne Frank's House. Mauthausen, Auschwitz-Birkenau 3 times, Majdanek 3 times, Dachau, Buchenwald twice, Sachsenhausen twice, Wannsee House, Topology of Terror in Berlin (and the various other memorials in Berlin), Treblinka, Warsaw Ghetto and Pawniak twice, Ponary, (but failed to locate Rumbula when I went to Riga), Hartheim, Thereseinstadt twice, and various branches of the Bundesarchivs, eine Laenderarchive, Mauthausen Archives, DOW archives, one University Zeitgeschichte archive as well as the Ifz in Munich.

You appear to be a Holy-Holocauster, visiting all the sacred sites.

Too bad you never knew him. You might not have grown up with such a mistaken idea of just how evil Naziism was. Try talking to some of the people who were alive back then.

Please provide some examples of Nazi evil you have learned from people who were alive back then.

Because unlike you, and RedIbis, I have found that very few in your movement, PARTICULARLY your leaders (or visible spokespeople if you will) have denounced/renounced/publicly abandoned that portion of the truth movement.

I have similar distaste for the Tea Party for the same reasons, but more related to their racist and gun fanatic segments.

TAM:)

The Tea Party is just a bunch of White people getting together and letting off a little bit of steam.

If the Truth Movement started out as a left-wing political movement can anyone explain to me how neo-nazis were so successful in infiltrating the group?
