Hillary Campaign Deathwatch

I missed the debate, but I caught this NPR summary this morning.

The part that struck me was when the audience actually booed Clinton for her "changes you can Xerox" line, alluding to her claim of speech plagiarism.

Not that I care, but shouldn't Hillary by now know that one of the things she can't do is funny?
Granted all I got was the five second sound clip version, but my impression wasn't that she was trying to be funny so much as she was trying to be sarcastic and mocking.

That whole line of argumentation is a straw man, anyway. She was rightly booed, imho.

This just in ... look, it's got to be true, I saw it on the internets ...

In related news, former president Bill Clinton has reversed his position on same-sex marriage and announced that he intends to marry Sen. Barack Obama after the Illinois leader wins the Democratic presidential nomination.

Clinton called Obama "the most qualified candidate to run for president in my lifetime," and added that he would think so "even if I did not intend to marry him."

Asked what role he would perform in the Obama White House, Clinton said he would do "whatever he asks me to do." And then stared hopefully into the middle distance.

^That is funny coming from Hillary. I guess misleading about Obama's position on choice is ok.

I would not have sex with that woman. She makes me want to puke.

Hilary seems to want to compete with Giuliani and Paul in the "Worst Ran Campaign of 2008" department.

Oh for ****'s sake.

I mean really.

No, I'm all out of witty comments, this time I'm just lost for words.

But the attack that received the most pop, on cable television and blogs, came after a photograph of Mr. Obama in ceremonial African garb appeared on the Drudge Report, and the item’s author, Matt Drudge, claimed that the image was provided by a Clinton staff member.
Dr A, consider the following thought:

The brain trust, the back room warriors, within the neocon movement have switched their upport to Obama, and will try to package their aims and goals as a form of moderate liberalism.

They didin't like McCain in 2000, and don't like him now.

Not saying it's for sure, but it's not too large a stretch.

As Romney found out, if the media is tough on you and soft on your opponent, it's like pushing rope uphill. Rockstar and personal savior Obama has received the plush red carpet ride to the nomination. I can't say I feel sorry for Hillary because opponents of the Clinton team have usually received the treatment she is now getting. What goes around, comes around.

Anyway, will she go quietly or tear the house down?

I'm hearing this more and more in the last few days, but I don't get it.

Even given a large dose of distaste for McCain, would the neocons pick Obama over him?

Then again, thinking as I write this, I suppose it could be a safety net.

1. We don't get the Republican we want

2. We'll settle for McCain

3. We'll make darn sure if McCain loses it ain't to Hillary

Hmmmm...... Could be.

Unless you have any evidence for that, I'm going to call it nuts. I also want to know who you really are and where you have buried Darth Rotor's body. This is not like you.

The only evidence I have is that Neo Con radio shills like Hannity are going out of their way to point out any and every foible in Hillary's campaign, and did the same versus McCain over the past two months, before Romney dropped out. This tells me that the original definition of a neoconservative is being reasserted. (Yes, Dr A, I am guessing)

Irving Kristol, in an overquoted remark on the neoconservative movement:

"A liberal mugged by reality."

Granted, the weakness of this idea is that Senator Obama is most certainly liberal, no question. It's not a trivial weakness.

But politics is about survival to fight another day. That is a trademark of the neoconservatives, whose liberal/leftish origins in the sixties/early 1970's demonstrates a driving aim of survival and relevance.

You are not relevant if you don't have an "in" with those in power.

Helping folks get into power allows for an in, some ins being more significant than others.

The idea is to win, or be connected to the winning side.

So, based on the tactics I have seen over the past four months, I am trying to do some out of the box thinking. It's not air tight, certainly, but I am completely tired of the endless false dichotomy presented as "differences" between Dems and GOP. Pols are pols, and what get their rods erect is power. Power is it.

Another data point is an article about a year and a half ago by a Bush insider covering the way the Evangelicals were used by the Bush team, cynically, for their political purposes. (Wu or Yu, I'll have to look it up.) He later wrote a book on the topic. LIttle bits and pieces are adding up.

I'd say more, but I am listening to the Dubliners singing Whskey in the Jar, and it has me distracted as I sing at the top of my voice, scaring the dog.

I'll think a bit more on this and see if I have anything further to add.

I think the media coverage of Obama will get tougher when he is the nominee apparent. And I look for his supporters to scream foul.
It is not so much Obama,or his stand on the issues, that gets to me but the whole Rockstar near hysteria that has eneveloped his campaign.
If Obama's campaign is smart as soon as they got the nomination sewed up they will tone it down and start projecting the serious statement image. I can't see his Charisma alone carrying him to the White House.
