Hillary Campaign Deathwatch

The reports of Hillary's demise appear to be greatly exaggerated.

See the NH primary.

Looks like they just called it for Hillary. I'm surprised. It's not, however, an overwhelming victory.

I'll change my mind; I think it's too close to call. I think Super Tuesday just got really, really interesting.

The usual suspects on cable TV news said how marvelously authentic Hillary came across during her big speech tonight. Then they said she wisely placed young faces behind her podium to help her get the young people vote in South Carolina. So she is no longer manipulative, or she is, but just better at it?

Then they said she wisely placed young faces behind her podium to help her get the young people vote in South Carolina. So she is no longer manipulative, or she is, but just better at it?

So Hillary (or more likely, her campaign staff) strategically placed people on the podium to make a good presentation so that they can succeed in attracting more voters. What a novel idea, I bet no other candidate has ever done that before. Of course she's being manipulative, that's what candidates do. It isn't just Hillary, it's all of them and it's been going on for a long, long time. Can you say "Checkers speech?"

She hangs from a noose and is just kicking a bit at the ankles. It's curtains.

It's somewhat comical that the only chance she has of staying in this race is to bring attention to her opponents soaring speeches.

It doesn't do her any favours. People hear her lecture them that 'speeches doesn't put food on tables' and, rightly or wrongly, they are simply reminded of a stale, bossy mother.

I knew Hillary was not "presidential" judging by her reaction to seeing my Johnson (Yes, it's on the big side, but definitely not Blackzillah-I'm-gonna-kill-you-territory). Here's the candid reaction shot:

Hillary’s baggage includes:
Whitewater
Rose Law Firm
Commodity Trading
Failure of her Healthcare plan by fellow Democrats
Reviewing FBI files on Republicans while her husband is President
Travelgate
Published commentary from Secret Service members on her attitude
Commutations and Pardons on President Clinton’s last day in office

Using an entire days supply of Botox every 2 weeks

I could go on but it seems clear to me that Obama offers white Liberals a “way out” for them to support their viewpoint and hopes without having to support slick Willie’s wife.

Total Delegates|Obama|Clinton

Superdelegates|Obama|Clinton

Folks, this race is hardly over.

I think the data is as of 20 Feb 2008. There appear to be a few delegates not counted, the numbers don't all quite add up.

It's over.

The only question is, how much trouble will Hillary create at the convention?

If Hillary wins this thing, I will eat a cheeseburger.

Texas and Ohio are not chopped liver. I'd not call this race just yet.

Have a cheeseburger anyway. They are yummy.

True, but these states have to be her firewalls, and she must win them by a wide margin. 54-46 won't do. I think at a minimum her margin of victory must be a two digit number. The trend before Wisconsin was that her lead was shrinking in Ohio and Texas, and now Obama has two more victories to add to that momentum.
She does have two weeks to turn this around. But it won't be easy.

The drumbeat just got a little louder

Clinton Donors Worried by Campaign’s Spending
By MICHAEL LUO, JO BECKER and PATRICK HEALY
This article was reported by Michael Luo, Jo Becker and Patrick Healy and was written by Mr. Healy.

Nearly $100,000 went for party platters and groceries before the Iowa caucuses, even though the partying mood evaporated quickly. Rooms at the Bellagio luxury hotel in Las Vegas consumed more than $25,000; the Four Seasons, another $5,000. And top consultants collected about $5 million in January, a month of crucial expenses and tough fund-raising.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s latest campaign finance report, published Wednesday night, appeared even to her most stalwart supporters and donors to be a road map of her political and management failings. Several of them, echoing political analysts, expressed concerns that Mrs. Clinton’s spending priorities amounted to costly errors in judgment that have hamstrung her competitiveness against Senator Barack Obama of Illinois.

“We didn’t raise all of this money to keep paying consultants who have pursued basically the wrong strategy for a year now,” said a prominent New York donor. “So much about her campaign needs to change — but it may be too late.”

The high-priced senior consultants to Mrs. Clinton, of New York, have emerged as particular targets of complaints, given that they conceived and executed a political strategy that has thus far proved unsuccessful.

The firm that includes Mark Penn, Mrs. Clinton’s chief strategist and pollster, and his team collected $3.8 million for fees and expenses in January; in total, including what the campaign still owes, the firm has billed more than $10 million for consulting, direct mail and other services, an amount other Democratic strategists who are not affiliated with either campaign called stunning.
