Has Boris gone yet?

Boris Johnson will officially resign as PM today (07 JUL 2022).

If only. I happened to be awake (4:20 a.m.) when I got the tease from the BBC News app, only to find that he's resigning as party leader and continuing as PM.

He's announced a major new policy for his last few months - going to put the interests of the people first!

He still can't bring himself to actually use the words, can he?

Third party circumlocutions and all his usual cheap attempts at sophistry, larded with the usual lies about what he's done.

By resigning as PM effective immediately? No? One suspects he's just as concerned about the interests of the people as ever.

Except he hasn't.

There has been a load of piffle waffle and lies, but he still hasn't said he's going. He's still talking about staying on until there is a new leader or some such nonsense.

This is not a resignation, but a kicking the can down the road.

Exactly.

It's still untenable.

It would be bad for the Tory party, but also bad for the country.

...and it's happened? I wonder if Preeti Patel will take over as interim PM. The wannabe fascists in India are going to go into orgasmic rapture if that happens.

But he has a right to be PM, perhaps he should try taking it to the ECHR...

Strictly speaking, he hasn't resigned as Prime Minister but he has indicated a vague date in the future on which he might do so.

Exactly. He's hoping to come back from this.

He's not out until he's not PM.

The deputy PM should be acting PM

Fizz back in cupboard, as the ****** clearly has NOT resigned and is about to chair a cabinet meeting.

That's more "I might be resigning at some point in the future and you can go ahead with your bollocky leadership election, but I don't care! Yada, yada, whatevs, suckers!"

You are quite correct.

Johnson has announced his intent to resign as opposed to actually resigning. And Johnson will continue to be PM until the new PM officially takes over.

Not quite.

That's what he's saying. According to Andrew Marr, that is not what the 1922 Committee will accept
