Google Earth reveals "Atlantis"

did a bit of scanning and it appears similar-looking features are everywhere

like off the coast of Ireland
 
They are everywhere. You can imagine any shape or object to be whatever you want it to be. No one is ever going to find Atlantis doing that.

On this whole issue and KOTA's Bermuda Triangle, Hmmm...

Could the Google co. be adding weird lines in certain spots just to get people buzzing about and using their products? If this is a good lead, someone should look into it further. Anyone here got big boats, crews, sonar and diving equipment? I can post the photos at my photobucket account but that's about it... ;)

Anyway, until I see something beyond this one company, their software and data and glitches and so on, this stuff isn't going to mean much to me. If these lines are real, however, it's definitely worth looking at closer.

I think it's a great video, but I think you're relying a bit too much on 9000 years before Plato "fact". This date is probably greatly inflated. There's no reason why there couldn't have been an island civilisation just a couple of thousand years before Plato to inspire his fictional civilisation.

I thought it was very well done, in content, presentation and production.

Of course, true believers will say, "but Atlantis sank, which is why we can't find evidence of the civilisation", and base their belief on a lack of evidence. :oldroll:

I noticed you showed pictures of Yonaguni as being among places that were above sea level during the last ice age "where modern people probably lived". I've always tended towards thinking that Yonaguni is a natural geologic formation. Do you have any sources that prove otherwise?

I wanted to put a direct link in, but because I'm new here I wasn't allowed to. Thanks for your comments and the link. I think there probably were now underwater and/or island cultures that could be thought of by us toady to have been Atlantis. But because it apparantly took thousands of years for the first civilizations to develop from domesticating crops to building cities, I don't see how or where an earlier civilization could have been. For instance, we'd see evidence of crops somewhere we couldn't genetically trace back to their wild origins because that original place would now be underwater.
 
I used the Yonaguni picture only because it showed structures underwater. I didn't mean to reference it as a definite place where people once lived.

So where is the evidence of the continent Plato talked about? Why do only "streets" (fissures) remain?

If I remember the scale correctly, those "trenches" would be about 50km apart.

It's an artifact, what you see is a sonar depth probing, and the search pattern of the ship.

As McHrozni said, these lines are artifact from the scanners used to map the ocean floor and don't really exist.

Aw, gee. Too easy I guess. Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant, where plutonium was cast, machined and manufactured into nuke triggers. Yes, it is stitched from pix taken about ten year apart. What looks like the wide parkways at the top was the high security no-mans land fences with dead space in between enclosing the manufacturing buildings. The whole place is gone now as shown on the right, an animal sanctuary.
 
If anyone cares to look at it, you can see the map here. You have to click Satellite to see the roads. Those are some big, big, big roads, 3-4 km across and 100+ long... There must have been some wicked traffic in Atlantis to need that many lanes.
