Glenn Beck Rape Coverup

Glenn Beck Rape Coverup

I didn't know Glenn Beck had been raped! Hope the rapist had his/her immunizations in order!!!

Glenn Beck, guilty of rape and murder? Desperation shows on the left

In a desperate attempt to discredit Glenn Beck, constitutional watch-dog and talk show host, progressive/liberal bloggers have started a rumor about the possibility that he raped and murdered a girl in 1990.

Did you expect the right-wing would respond any other way?

I'll repeat myself. This is gross. It serves no purpose.

What is your objection of Beck? That he spreads misinformation. So what, exactly, is spreading misinformation supposed to prove? That "both sides" are equally scummy?

You blew it. You had the moral high ground, and you blew it. And for what? This only serves to boost Beck's popularity among the right-wing. You are helping his ratings, and his book sales. You are helping him to earn more money, and gain more attention.

I'm with Zaphod here.

A lot of folks are going to be helplessly lost forever to the maelstrom of right-wing politco-tainment crap because of this.

I think some people are getting a little worked up about this and I do not think there is any risk of losing moral high ground to Beck. Parodying his tactics to an absurd level may actually show some people just how silly his 'style' is.

It is not quite as clever but along the same lines of John Stewart's commentary about how fox news doesn't make accusations they just ask questions like, "Is Obama a muslim?" or "Does Obama support terrorism?"

Its the all important question mark that allows these clowns to say anything they want as if it is a legitimate point. I believe John ended the segment by asking something along the lines of "Is fox news the worst news organization ever?"

I wish they hadn't used rape and murder as their parody as its going to make them seem less clever and more out for shock value. Something along the lines of, "Was Glenn Beck involved in gay sex and coke parties in the 1990's?" or something like that.

But on the same note I am deeply offended when people on the right malign the president for not being American and call him a racists so I just have to point out that rape, girls, murder and Beck where all around in 1990 so until he proves otherwise, is it possible that Glenn Beck raped and murdered a girl in 1990?

The people who understand the Internet and the way parody works here are not the same people watching Beck's program.

My elderly neighbor loves Beck. Watches him every night. And if I tried to explain this parody to her, she would be horrified. In her eyes Beck would be even more heroic for standing up to the slander from the radical lefties.

I am no fan of Beck. I find it bizarre I am now in a position defending him. But the fact is, countless journalists are equally guilty of the absurd, sensationalist style Beck is being vilified for. The Onion, John Stewart and countless others have pointed this out time and time again.

This is the madness of crowds in action. I agree with the cause to improve news media; I disagree with the tactics. Just imagine if everyone participating in this meme sent a dollar to NPR or PBS instead. Just imagine how effective we could be at forcing real change in American news.

But we won't. We'll laugh and joke and forget all about this next week, when some dude lighting his farts on YouTube becomes the next force du jour.

I heard that people objected to Beck because he spread ********* to push his own agenda. I heard those same people are just as bad, do the exact same thing, and have no moral high ground left.

Of course...I just heard that. On Twitter. Or maybe Facebook.

Does he have the equipment needed for a mental breakdown?

He already has a whiteboard and crayons, so...

Hold on. You know who else likes crayons? That's right, little girls! We're through the looking glass here, people.

This is stupid and not funny at all. Little girls being raped and murdered, wow hilarious.

Noone's accusing Beck of anything, we're just asking questions. You shouldn't be afraid to ask questions, unless you've been drinking the Kool-Aid!

This is gross.

I understand I'm in the minority. And I have no love for Glenn Beck. But in my opinion, spreading lies to push your own agenda makes you the same monster you accuse Beck of being.

Give him enough rope and he'll hang himself. Don't stoop to his level.

Er... the web page, while crude, is obviously satire. Its point is not that Beck actually raped anybody, but that the same logic used to "prove" Obama was not native born (or that 9/11 is an inside job or whatever) can just as easily be used to "prove" Beck is a rapist.

I dunno. The "oh, we're not like those stupid people" feeling is tempting, but not necessarily true. More to the point, even if so, so what? Just because some idiot on the internet might not understand it's satire hardly means one should not do it, or else nobody would every do any satire, however obvious, on the net.

Exactly. We should not handicap ourselves by playing to the fool demographic.

No no, the idiots on the Internet LOVE this.

The idiots who watch Beck's show don't "get it", and never will.

It is a very clever idea; it exposes the fallacy of "Beck Inquiry" in a way that most netizens can laugh at. But by using pedophilia and rape as the alleged crime, you have charged the issue to a point that no fan of Beck would even consider the point you are making.

I'm not speculating, I'm stating fact: my neighbor is the main demo of Beck's show. She doesn't "get this" type of humor. In her eyes, you are the villain, and her best course of action is buying his next book and bumping his ratings. It helps Beck, it doesn't hurt him.

I understand: your goal is hilarity, not fixing anything. And that's a good thing, because this won't.

Party on, Wayne.
