I don't think using ones own (in)ability to paint to judge someone else's talent is a proper metric.

Yeah, a lot of that work seems to be on the same level.

Although some of those works are, probably inadvertently, better. Such as this one called "Peter the Kitty" (surely not the original title):

I've been called "a real artist" in my time, and I have to say I think they're adorable.

I'm not a fan of that super-realistic stuff. That's what cameras and Photoshop are for.

I won't get into how much I despise the man. But as an artist myself, there are some I actually like. I learned long ago that because someone is creative doesn't make them a good person.

I agree. Some of the most creative people in the world are real ***** in real life.

In this particular case, I don't even hate George W Bush, but I think his art is awful.

Besides, just how twee is it to paint pictures of Yorkshire terriers and other rodent-like dogs?

I still say that the little hint of artistic vision I see in some of this would be better realized by photography, especially old fashioned black and white work. All politics aside, let's be generous for a moment and surmise some artistic ember here. I think Mr. Bush's temperament would be more at home in a darkroom.

Yes, I saw it like a man who used to be extremely busy, but suddenly has a lot of time on his hands, and says to himself one day "I'm gonna learn to paint!" For a few years all his paintings are pretty crap, but hey, he's learning.
