IDB87 has expressed some very extreme views regarding Islam and Catholicism. Do you consider these views to be bigoted? Remember, you considered by view that capital funds should not be used for religious reasons to be bigoted.

I would hope for some consistency here.

IDB87 does not post a new "OUTRAGED BY THIS OUTRAGEOUS OUTRAGE" thread on an almost hourly basis as I have seen certain other forum members do here.

er...what is "European Christianity"?

is that Irish Roman Catholocism, that forbids abortion?

is it Scottish Presbyterianism?

is it German Lutherism?

is it Czech Hussitism?

is it Greek Orthodoxy?

Those European Christianity Kosovar Muslim good guys don't have a Pope, do they?

Do you understand the definition of context?

When I claimed those people were 'mentally healthy' it was in comparison to your example of a schizophrenic who would look at Dr. Seuss and find reason to commit mass murder.

are you going to provide evidence that your average, every-day suicide bomber is indeed reletively mentally healthy & stable..and was simply brainwashed by the evil teachings of Mooslimz?

I also fail to see how my opinions of religion in any way impact your worldview, SoT.

Perhaps Thunder will bring up the relevance?

please define & explain the bolded section.

cause before tonight, I have never heard of it. How does one become a member of this branch?

Engage in one of your pedantic, sticking, trivial definition debates that misses the point of the original statement? No thanks. Been there, done that.

We can strike suicide bombers from that list, sure. I do not think people who are willing to self-destruct themselves are in a sound state of mind. Yes, I do think they are brainwashed by the evil teachings of Islam

I see what you did there...

*ETA

But wait, what came first: the suicide bomber, or the religion that told them it was OK to do?

:boggled:

If you can't see the joke in there.

Haha, I really have nothing better to do tonight.

ok, I'm glad we agree that suicide bombers ain't right in the head.

now, do you also believe that such folks can be unbrainwashed from committing evil deeds, by learning non-evil teachings from Islam?

do you agree that a Muslim cleric could indeed (and I'm sure they do) use peaceful passages from the Koran to de-program Muslim extremists full of hate?

see, there you go again. attacking the religion of Islam, and not just a violent, hateful, & extremist interpretation (misinterpretation one might say), of Islam.

I call bigotry.

Look, I know as much as anyone else does, that the Koran has some passages that look pretty brutal. But there are ALSO passages that call for peace and harmony with non-believers.

To ignore the good in Islam and simply magnify the bad, is indeed bigotry.

Sure why not. I would like to see how you plan on rounding on the Taliban and having them sent to reform school though.

I went to google and typed in "Muslim clerics helps to debrainwash fanatics."

Google came back with

Did you mean: Muslim clerics could brainwash fanatics.

I laughed.

Also, they can try it out for themselves, as long as they don't proselytize with any sort of positive results.

Indeed.

Care to support that "misinterpretation" claim?

Much fewer than the ones that preach violence and brutality. Why don't you click on the like I gave you earlier and compare.

And I'll say it again: Religion gets morality from us, not the other way around.

have you PERSONALLY read through the Koran, searching for all passages of hate & kindness?

cause honestly, I trust a site that points out the "evils" of Islam as much as I trust Stormfront, Prisonplanet, or Jewwatch.

and honestly, why has this become a bash-Islam thread???

The site lists each chapter of the Quran, start to finish, and goes trough each passage and labels it appropriately (even the "good stuff"!)

Why don't you look up the Yususf Ali translation as a guide, to see if there's anything misleading?

Your problem, not mine.

I see no problem with rejecting bigotry.

So I take it that means you aren't going to look at the link I gave you, along with an impartial translation (one of the more popular ones) as a guide?

If not, you really shouldn't be talking about what is and is not in the Quran.
