She's referring to me and my post linking to "Addicted to Hate". She's trying to claim that if I posted information, it must not be reliable.

Of course, this is a woman who described Fred Phelps a good example of a moral, upright Christian, so take her criticism of my sources with the appropriate quantity of salt.

I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of people who are hated more than the Phelps family. People who commit genocide for example.

In related news, Snopes is already addressing this completely predictable rumor:

Claim: Notorious homophobe and Westboro Baptist Church founder Fred Phelps made a deathbed confession that he was gay.

There's also a rumor addressed in the article, equally false, that he served in the military and will be buried in Arlington national cemetery.

I've seen them protest a funeral for a service member KIA'd in Iraq.

What part of "true xtian morality" would that be? must have missed that part in catholic school.

I've said it before - if somebodies christian beliefs leads them to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and shelter the homeless, fine. If it's to yell and carry on and tell people what kind of fire the man upstairs has in store for 'em they're ********.

WBC is the latter.

Depends on the accuracy of the earlier part of this thread. With things like the deadly departed I honestly have no problem with speculation and defamation.


Or as I was just reminded by Ms/Dr. fuelair, with defecation in relation to his grave.

I've seen a few documentaries on the WBC, two of them by Louis Theroux, and one of the main thing that always struck me about them was, abhorrent views aside, how nice all the young members of the church were. They seemed like people that it'd be really pleasant spending time with. And, indeed, I've read several reports from people who have met the younger members of the church, while they were still members of the church, and have had extended conversations with them, even at their houses within the church and a common thread is, again, how personable they are. And those are reports from Jews, gay people, etc. all of whom met the Phelps clan through being protested against.

Gosh that is truly awful as poetry (even as song lyrics). I can barely take the words in through my eyes, let alone parse them with my mind.

"You'll feel God's envy"!? Weird.

"We'll be caught up with him in the air"!? Pathetic.

They did a version of "Hey Jude" that really annoyed me. The "na na na na na-na na" bit at the end they changed to "hey evil reprobate Jews, God hates you, and you know it". The thing that annoys me (other than the obvious) is the last line. The last line in the actual song is two syllables - "hey Jude". "and you know it" is four syllables. Surely the obvious thing to sing is "hey Jews"?

I mean, come on. It's so easy to get right, and they failed.

Wow. Nate is a truly great man. He proves that human nature is not to be simplistically dismissed as so many do, decrying the species for all the brutal and nasty behaviour. Nate proves it is possible to survive abuse and ignorance and indoctrination to bloom into a real and humanist human being of wisdom and compassion.
