Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Trump

Not surprising. I suspect that there's a contingent within that order that lost out. It's really scary though that police you may encounter in some form or other is a Trump supporter. That really means that they may not be very good at critical reasoning.

Not sure why though. Because they think a Trump administration will give them more leeway in cracking down in blue states and cities?

Weird that they had endorsed Clinton before, and declined to endorse any candidate in 2012.

You forget what all too many police forces are. They're an army of occupation, not upholders of the law.

Watch, a few minutes of an Institute for Justice video on police over reach and you'll see why. Trump's a bully and we have a large number of bullies who are attracted to law enforcement in this country.

No, not surprising, not surprising at all.

I have a cousin who is an NYPD detective and a good buddy who is retired after thirty years as an NYPD patrol officer. They both have told me the same thing.

"Be careful out there. Half the guys I work[ed] with are nuts. Never should have been appointed."

They both say "half." :(

Unsurprising, and predictable in any country where the police has been gradually and systematically estranged from and been given disproportionate power over the population.

In France and many other Western European countries, I've seen the same tendency of a good parts of the police organisations to side with the most authoritarian political parties, especially those who try to pass laws guaranteeing funds and protection from any consequences for their unlawful actions towards the less protected parts of the population.

Of course they endorse him. Best candidate there's been in years for the advocacy of a fascist police state. The mask's off.

So, mostly endorsements don't matter but, this probably helps Harris, the "She's a cop" concern of some lefties is moderated if the cops won't endorse her. And of course, if a public employee union endorses a candidate, I'm hard pressed to vote for them.

Literally the candidate with the most criminal charges and convictions ever.

I feel like the whole country is taking crazy pills!

Almost none of the charges are things that most police do or should give a crap about.

I think law enforcement should, in general, care about the breaking of laws. Just as doctors should care about overall health, even if they don't themselves practice every branch of medicine.

*Takes "Trump didn't commit any real crimes!" puts it on the hook, casts it into the water*

Awwww nobody's biting.

But, think of all the poor devils who don't even have a police!

Absolutely! The very nature of law enforcement attracts people who crave power and control over others. The Blue Wall code protects them.

The blue wall of silence, also blue code and blue shield, are terms used to denote an informal code of silence among police officers in the United States not to report on a colleague's errors, misconducts, or crimes, especially as related to police brutality in the United States.

Harris was never a cop. She was a prosecutor, district attorney, and CA's Attorney General.

But, I agree that this will actually help her as the police, in general, don't have the best reputation in the US except among the authoritarian right.

I do find it disturbing that the FOP is endorsing a convicted felon, sexual abuser, and pathological liar. It doesn't say much for them.
And other LE officials agree:

Durham County [NC] Sheriff Clarence Birkhead is joining over 100 law enforcement officials nationwide in condemning FOP's endorsement. He said he is endorsing Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

So LEOs are now Laws We Care About Enforcing Officers.

Check.

Seriously? How often to cops investigate financial crimes and federal mishandling confidential documents? Basically never, except very specialized "cops" that are cops in the same way Harris was a cop.

Does it matter what they investigate? The fact remains that Trump is a convicted felon 34X over and found liable for sexual abuse and for defamation twice. He had multiple charges still pending for other crimes.

Harris was never a cop, nor has she ever claimed to be.

Seriously?

Yes, seriously. If cops don't "give a crap" about crimes they don't normally investigate, they really don't care about crime, and probably shouldn't be cops. Much in the same way that the (snicker) party of law and order do not care about Trump's multiple convictions for fraud, and his adjudication for sexual assault etc.
