Federal courts keep ruling against new gun laws

Which, to republicans like Hercules and Trausti, is a feature, not a bug. If the crotch extensions were so awesome, safe, improved society, and made life better all around, then why are Republicans so against doing research\gathering statistics? If they allowed research it would debunk the ridiculous notion that guns make places any safer at all.

Like Chicago, guns all over the place, along with gun laws, but for some reason crime is high. If, as Hercule suggests, that guns decrease crime then has no one told Chicago?

Im not a Republican OR the subject of this thread.

Never said that more guns decreased crime.

Whatever. Name one single mass-shooting at a school that was done by someone using a handgun with a concealed carry permit.

Got that whittled down all the way, huh? How about if we talk about all of the mass shootings\murders that take place with legally purchased guns? Just kidding, we both know why. Because that grinds up this bull **** attempt at making a point and ***** it out. MOST mass shootings\murders are done with legally purchased guns, most within weeks or months before the crime.

That kind of ***** up your point doesn't it? Those mass shooters\murderers are buying the guns specifically to shoot up schools or whatever. Weak sauce, even for you.

This thread is about concealed carry permits for handguns.

No it's not. The subject says "Federal courts keep ruling against new gun laws" and I specifically addressed something you said. You asked about mass shootings and linked it to concealed carry. Don't like it? I don't really ******* care. I was responding to what YOU said. Report it if you have a problem.

Yeah, point is that more CCW doesn't mean more murders.

Wow, you're ******* terrible at making "points". CCW doesn't make anywhere any safer either, does it? Do you have any statistics to back that up? You made a claim, I highlighted it in that post. Back it up, retract it, or look a fool. Choice is yours, fella.

Around 200,000 murders last decade. 1,300 committed by permit holders.

Clearly permit holders aint the problem here.

Maybe we should require a permit to buy and possess a handgun, nationwide. Might reduce murders, who knows.

Misread, we said the same thing. I digress.

Or, I have a better idea, how about no one gets a handgun unless they go through the entire process to be approved as concealed carry holders? Maybe that would actually reduce murders. Your bull **** idea was cool too, but I'm trying to address an actual problem.

I support requiring a permit to possess a handgun at home.

Wyoming and Montana were both top 10 for gun deaths in the US for 2021. Take a look at the bottom of the list.

As for the "soft on crime" dog whistle, violent crime rates seem to run the entirety of the political spectrum, with poverty being a better indicator, although not 1 to 1.

And here is where I add the caveat about gun and crime statistics being murky at best

If you take out suicides, because, well duh, Montana is at the bottom of the list.

https://www.thecentersquare.com/montana/less-than-half-of-all-homicides-in-montana-are-committed-with-a-gun/article_fdb23a65-f346-5f03-bc20-725e5c3b9292.html

And soft-on-crime policies like no or limited bail and preventing cops from doing common sense policing just let's criminals do more shooting.

Written test, field exam, personal interview, FBI background check, I support all of this to get a handgun permit, in order to keep at home and to also carry in public.

The majority of gun violence in the US is perpetrated by people who couldn't meet those requirements if they tried, and wouldn't bother trying anyway.

The majority of violent crimes are perpetrated by a small number of persistent violent offenders, typically males, characterized by early onset of violent criminality, substance abuse, personality disorders, and nonviolent criminality.

So what about the other 49%??? Shouldn't we worry about them as well?

Even if 65% of violent crime is committed by repeat-offenders, they all started somewhere and the other 35% is still a big problem.

That doesn't say what you think it does. All it says is people looking to commit a homicide prefer to use a gun. Because that is what guns are for. And one of the other states you held up as a beacon, Wyoming, is #3 on that list.

And your argument relied on the "soft on crime" dog whistle. Violent crime, specifically homicide, rates by state dispels that notion.

You men those ten gun homicide deaths?

Crime is local. You look at the localities. New Orleans is not the whole of Lousiana.

In the interests of efficiency guns should continue to be widely available for purchase but two out of every three purchasers should be shot when they buy them; that will cover the suicide, homicide, and accident numbers right there and leave the rest of the population unscathed. Think of the savings in paperwork, policing, legal, and so forth.

Its a rate. you're the one holding up states with a population that couldn't sell out a high school football game as examples.

If it were, Louisiana would have a lower homicide rate

Show me how any city is "soft on crime" compared to the rest of its state. There is nothing linking bail reform efforts or anything like that to any gun crime rates.

The courts are obviously taking responsible action in herd culling. More guns on the streets means more people with bullets in them, hence effective population control. Forward thinking souls.
