February Stundie Nominations

I'm not sure if this really qualifies as a stundie, but I feel like this kid is going places! His first wise move: registering at a fmotl forum to ask for advice on how to "lawfully rebel" against the school system and drop out of school.

I am aware of the possibility that I could wind up doing nothing with my life, heh.
I was thinking of looking into what I want to do, then knock around university campuses and privately consult professors who have an interest in giving me advice on what I want to do.

It's possible that I might get my own land when I turn 18, which I could use for self sufficiency gardening and doing some experimenting with free energy and the like.
What education would I get? I might look into massage therapy, as I think I like that. I could supplement that with building free energy engines and doing odd jobs, it might even be possible to build a free energy engine and sell it to the grid! That would require a basic and working understanding of engineering, but I'm confident I can figure it out.

Anyway, probably not really fair to laugh at a kid, but whatever, I smoked a lot of weed in high school and I was still fairly satisfied that there was no such thing as a free energy machine.

And that's the saddest part about all these internet whackjobs spouting off their nonsense. As with you, when I was a kid, "free energy" or "perpetual motion" machines were well understood to be nonsense, but these days, we have enough nuts spewing enough crap that some people actually start thinking there might be something there.

So now we have a kid who's apparently interested in engineering, and who might actually invent something useful if he studies it for real, deciding to waste his life tinkering in the shed on crap that will never work.

Oh, and then someone gives him this wonderful piece of advice:

you could do a project on biodiesel.
of course if you happened to use nitric acid (acid-base method) in your ignorance and ended up with nitroglycerine and happened to flatten a bit of school property and/or leave a big hole in the ground.. well, i'm sure the problem of removing yourself from school would solve itself for you.

I can't get over the fact that 1) he wants to build "free energy engines" to supplement an income from massage therapy, and 2) he's not even sure if free energy exists in the first place, which means he'd basically be inventing a working free energy engine and he still only wants to use that as a supplement to his income. How much money does he think massage therapists make? I don't personally know, and I'm sure it's a respectable amount, but it can't be anyway near "I solved the world's energy problems".

And that's ignoring that free energy is bunk.

Stay in school, kid.

I only ever visit Ickes to read stundies in more detail, but it seems like a place where people just like to tell stories and pretend.

Yes, NASA took a chance landing on the surface of the moon that was discovered to be more radioactive 30 years later.

Their lack of foresight is.......disappointing.

While I've never smoked weed (hell I don't even drink coffee) I just can't imagine being messed up enough to think that I could supplement my income by inventing a device that the entire collective of humanity cannot.
