FBI's Anthrax Media Strategy Explained

I started this thread, remember? That means I ask the questions and you answer the questions.

Why did Ivins kill himself before he was indicted? They say he said he was going to shoot his co-workers if he was indicted. Well, now he can't do that, even if he is indicted, because he's dead.

That means he either didn't say he was going to shoot his co-workers, or he didn't committ suicide.

Communication is a two way street buddy.

The explanation for his suicide is that he felt pressured by the FBI (whether this was because he was guilty or innocent is another matter) and couldn't handle it anymore.

Yes, it has been reported that he said he was going to shoot his coworkers if he was indicted. Obviously he can't do it now. This doesn't mean, however, that he never said it or he never committed suicide. People can change their minds. Just because he had intent doesn't mean he was actually going to do something. How many times have you said you were going to do one thing but done another? Want to answer some questions about why his death was so mysterious now?

according to the autopsy, it wasn't a suicide, so I have no idea where you are getting the idea that he committed suicide.

And are you aware that suicide can lead to death or serious bodily harm? Don't you think Ivins was aware of that as well? People act in their own interests, you know.

Why was Dr. Ivins death not reported for 6 days?

Reported to whom? Reported by whom?

Do you mean reported in the mainstream media? Why would it be? They apparently didn't know he was now the primary suspect, either. His suicide wouldn't be seen as particularly newsworthy.

Why didn't he write a suicide note?

Not everyone does...

Why was there no autopsy?

How do they no the cause of death, if no autopsy?

I haven't been following this closely. Are you sure there wasn't? Do you have a source that?

How can someone under 24/7 surveillance commit suicide using a technique that takes two days to kill you?

He also took codeine, which causes hypoventilation in large enough quantities.

If he didn't leave a suicide note, then how could you tell it was a suicide? Ivins has never stated or wrote that he committed suicide. He would know better than any of you armchair theorists.

I thought you asked why no autopsy was performed. Now you are saying that an autopsy was performed. Which is it?

I never said an autopsy was performed, I said the autopsy didn't say there was a suicide.

So if there is no autopsy and no suicide note, how can anyone claim it was a suicide?

what does post number 82 mean? you said "according to the autopsy...."

The whole issue of autopsy or no autopsy doesn't really matter anyways. The cause of death was known. If the cause of death is apparent, why is necessary to perform an autopsy? They are done to find the cause of death. In this case, it was known overdose of acetominophen and codeine. This was widely reported in the press.

Oh come now, Galileo. We know you better than that. You've just set up a win-win situation. If he did leave a suicide note, you'd be questioning its authenticity, too.

Your implication that, because he didn't leave a suicide note, no one can reasonably determine that he actually killed himself is transparent pseudo-skepticism and is worthless.

He would know better than any of you armchair theorists.

And you, too, would apparently know better than us, is that what you're suggesting?

I never said an autopsy was performed, I said the autopsy didn't say there was a suicide.

That... sentence doesn't... make... sense...

Yeah. I'm thinking Stundie material there. Something that he says doesn't exist doesn't claim...well, I suppose that's technically true.

So Galileo, I'm wondering why the cause of death is important. Why does he have to have died by anthrax to make you think it's a suicide? Several folks have asked you and I don't recall seeing an answer.

what conspiracy are you talking about? I didn't know you were a conspiracy theorist?

I don´t know if he was guilty or not, and it would not be the first time law enforcement took a shortcut.
Does that make me a conspiracy theorist?

Well, I suppose mole people could have burrowed into his house from underground then held him down with telekinesis powers while the pills were force fed to him and then exited through their tunnel and covered their tracks but.......I'm thinking suicide is a much simpler and logical explanation for death by massive codeine overdose.

. . . And so the FBI (and related entities involved in the investigation, the ones that formed the most massive conspiracy, crime, and cover-up ever) waits 5 or so years to "suicide" a suspect that they could have planted evidence against in 2002 or 2003 and looked like geniuses?

. . . And they picked a non-muslim extremist with no real ties to Iraq because . . . um . . . because of the same reason that waiting until 2008 was a good idea, too?

Sweet Jesu.

Um, wasn't Ivins current on his vaccinations against anthrax?

I'd imagine you'd have to be to work with the stuff.

Of course the idea he'd off himself with anthrax is just silly. Only in movies do villains meet ironically appropriate deaths.
