Farewell, Twinkies

I was going to do exactly that. But hoard them and not sell them until five years from now. They of course will still be perfectly "fresh".
They will probably still be "fresh" 10,000 years from now. The miracle of preservatives and lots of sugar.
Supposedly its a myth that they will last "forever".

Twinkies do last a little bit longer than your average cakes filled with cream: a whole month.

I'm disappointed in my fellow JREFers.. It shouldn't have taken 2 pages for someone to point out:

Twinkies have a shelf life of twenty five days..

However, many of you may be excited to know, as I was, that Hostess has confirmed that a Twinkie will explode in a microwave in approx 45 seconds...
I assumed that anyone posting here about everlasting Twinkies was making a joke...because it's funny.

It's not funny, it's unimaginable horror.

And with strange aeons even death may die."

I had a brilliant idea to buy twinkies and make my own form of corn tortilla chips, both infused with THC (for sale in Colorado) talk about a product that sells itself!

Even if Twinkies disappear permanently from the snack food market, they will still live on as a fundamental unit of the amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area.

How unfortunate for this to happen. Here we have the bakers union (who only represent about 5000 of the 18,500 workers) striking at a time when Hostess was in bankruptcy. So what did they expect, pay raises? And now i'm hearing "It wasn't the union that killed Hostess"? .. Well i'm not so sure about that. Sure, unions at one time were a great asset to their employees, unfortunately, we are at a fiscal standstill that affects every single worker whether their in the union or not. Seems to me, the union would be of better use to focus on keeping jobs rather than pursuing an unrealistic increase in pay or benefits. Maybe then, they can make up for all those they protected who never deserved a union job.

Sorry, just a pet peeve since my Facebook news feed starting filling up with those planning on going to the store to buy 50 boxes and selling them on eBay.

So a few months from now, hopefully, there will be a Twinkie glut on ebay.

Honestly though, the hostess cupcakes are where it's at.

If the company is closing, and letting go of its workers, then how exactlly are "they not going away" ??

-TS-

There is a +/- 600 years supply stock piled in old salt mines beneath Chicago.

The company was sneaky about the expanded production for the past few years, in a ploy to get the unions over a barrel.

Now it looks like they can ride out the 2nd Obama term, without any employees at all. Then aid in a miraculous recovery when the Reps replace him in 2016.

It must bet rue, I posted it on the net. ;)

At the risk of turning this into a serious thread, it is my understanding that the strike was called because the company was asking the workers to take an 8% pay cut, with a 4% raise in a year if things got better.

I heard a story about one plant where none of the workers would walk, so they had to bus in picketers from other locations..

I was always a fan of those terrifying pink Sno Ball things, marshmallow ,chocolate cupcake , cream filling AND pink coconut stuff? sign me up twice a day and 3 times on sunday!

I hope somebody buys that brand

I liked the white ones..

I'd pull off the rubbery, coconut skin and nibble out the shape of a little ( polar ) bear skin rug..

I thought that was so cool..

Yes. I believe it was at the Ogden Utah plant. .. Oddly, our local media here continues to leave out 8% pay cut/4% possible raise.
