Facebook bans far right groups

And I've already told you. It's not the symbol that's the joke. It's the reaction to the symbol that's the joke. Do you understand?

Yes. Baylor. I. Understand. What. You. Are. Saying.

Do you understand that you are, not terribly surprisingly, wrong?

In what world do you live where people adopt standards promoted as emblems of a despicable group like White Supremacists? This isn't a bunch of budding Andy Kaufmans who are going to spend their lives pushing the edges of comedy. This is ignorant asswipes showing who they are. The cops in Alabama? The pose is pretty obvious and it's also pretty obvious that only a few of them are doing it. It's not a "natural" pose as some have tried to sell the gullible. It's a signal and it doesn't matter if Soupy Sales, Groucho Marx or Carrot Top thought it would "be a goof". The perps don't know this

It ain't funny. The fact that they think it is (which none of the AL cops claimed, by the way*) is an indication. If I got to your next kegger as Barrack Obama, it's because I know that you and your droogies will get pissed off, AND BECAUSE I ACTUALLY SUPPORT OBAMA and many of his policies and his historical significance to our country.

*Interesting that none of the perps in that case or any others have used the "Oh, I'm a flaming moderate; I just do that to trigger libtards" excuse. It's only the internet apologists and interference runners.

The Alt-Right has a history of inventing a secret vocabulary that only the in-group knows the meaning of, coupled with plausible deniability so they can claim butter-wouldn't-melt-in-their-mouths innocence.

Please stop asking the same questions over and over when they've already been answered. Asking once....nicely.

Huh? You don't like me asking questions? On a discussion forum? Good luck with that. No question is answered until it is satisfactorily explained to all parties in the discussion. And with numerous of you who are wronger than Wrongy Wrongstein of Wrong Lane in Wrongtown, that ain't gonna happen.

Rant proves he doesn't understand snipped.

No. You. Do. Not. Understand.

A Barrack Obama costume is not a ubiquitous symbol with numerous connotations throughout the world. So, to the surprise of no one, you do not understand.

Just googled

The "OK" sign now means white supremacist?

That one passed me by.

Mind you. I always suspected Eddie Murphy was a white supremacist

Let me take a wild guess

It is because Trump does it every now and again with his stupid hand waving during speeches

Jesus, ******* read the thread and you'll maybe get it.

It's because the symbol is ubiquitous.

The point was to expose a subset of the population who see "racists" everywhere--similar to how early modern Europe and colonial America saw "witches" everywhere. As you can tell, it worked.

I am not going to read 25 pages of thread to find out why you think a hand sign used by deaf people talking to each other now means the are white supremacists.

(Wonder how many of them will get beaten up by antifa)

The "OK" sign can be a symbol of white supremacy. It depends on the context of which it is used. How hard is that to comprehend?

Phantowolf provided a good link with a good rundown. Once again, to the surprise of no one, the point did not get through.

It is important to realize that the “OK” gesture is a nearly universal hand gesture and most usage of it is completely innocuous. Even when used as described here, the fact that white supremacists, the alt lite and many Trump supporters all use the symbol means that one cannot assume that anyone who poses with such a gesture is intending or exhibiting an association with white supremacy.

https://www.adl.org/blog/how-the-ok-symbol-became-a-popular-trolling-gesture

(As an aside, I said I will not provide links anymore, due to ISF inability to understand them, and the misrepresentation of links, this is simply giving a link that was already provided a few pages back.)

It isn't hard to comprehend

It is one of those stupid things currently happening like people wearing a type of cap

Which is fine as long as people treat this meaning for what it is.

Something someone decided it means 2 years ago when the sign has been around with various innocuous meanings for over 2000 years

Then you'll remain uneducated and in your mistaken belief that your summary of my beliefs is correct.

Yes and referring to non human primates as monkeys is also not racist too just like if you were doing a monkey chant at a football match, as nothing has any context everything is racist.

Or wait does it mean that the monkey chants at black people at sports events are just good clean comedy and not remotely racist?

Yep we also can not decide if the guy with the swastika tattoos on his face is really a racist either because of the melinia of their use. No reason to see someone with a few norse runes and swashkitcas tattoos as racist.

I was waiting for this brilliant enlightenment

Guess what

Swastikas aren't still used in modern western cultures these days except in direct use to Nazism

The ok hand sign is still used in every day life and in variations of international sign languages.

But by all means if you want to steal some every day thing over some crap joke some idiots did on some website, go for it. Just don't ecpect everyone to take you seriously.

Given my experience in this forum, I may be cynical, but I lean heavily towards this one in moist cases (newer people in particular).

So new they're still wet behind the ears? The professed ignorance sure does make it seem like some really were born yesterday.

You're only partially right(but at least not totally wrong for a change). You see, to people in Africa, Obama symbolizes hope. To many people in America, he symbolizes a great moment in history, where our country finally came of age. To people in Europe he's a symbol of a bygone era when the trailer trash wasn't setting US foreign policy. To Low-IQ-Cauc Breeders, he symbolizes the end of civilization. At your barbecue, I'm sure he'd symbolize yet something else. ("There go the property values", amirite?)
