Extreme Right-Wing Websites (like cnsnews.com)

Pardalis --- Do you think that the comments of a website cannot contribute to (or reveal) a particular worldview?

b. They REALLY BELIEVE that many or most black people are just lazy or addicted to drugs.

d. They REALLY BELIEVE that public schools really only exist to teach kids how to put on condoms and that homosexuality is great.
Evidence? That is to say, links?
I would 100% agree with the statements in the OP. I used to read FSTDT for years and years (though not so much since 2007). All of the views from the OP, and many many more, are excerpted and archived forever as the worst, most ludicrous, most hilarious, often times disturbing examples of fundamentalism on the internet.

I'm not willing to surf these sites at my work, but the National Vanguard, Christian Exodus, and Stormfront hold extremely racist views like the ones above. Many of them believe still maintain the belief that black skin is punishment from God, many of them will forcefully argue that slavery was the best thing that ever happened to "savage races", news of black-on-white violence is covered with extreme prejudice, they are perfectly happy to repeat myths which link intelligence to race, they literally believe God is a racist God, etc.

World Net Daily is definitely the worst offender, followed by CNS News, Conservapedia, and to a much less hysterical extent the New American and Christian Post cover homosexuality, gender identity, and sex education with scathing details. Almost never are serious problems with public schooling addressed, such as the ineffectiveness of teachers to boost test scores or profoundly underfunded schools perpetuating poverty in low-income urban neighborhoods, but inevitably when these subjects are discussed, they're almost linked to schools "teaching homosexuality to kindergarteners" and "taking prayer out of school". They will argue that Matthew Shepard flirted with his murderers, or that Brandon McInerey (a 14-year-old who premeditated the murder of a transgender classmate, Larry King) was only acting in self defense.

Dessi,

What are you referring to when you say you 100% agree?
Sorry, I edit my posts about dozen times after writing them :)

I agree with the OP. All the statements given, particularly the racist and homophobic comments, are very well-represented on ultra-right websites.

No, I provided comments that specifically addressed Brainsters' requests (and comments fit perfectly well with my claim in the OP). I think I provided lots of evidence via the comments.

Nothing in my OP said that all of these claims were listed in the ARTICLES. I very explicitly said that these beliefs are found in the articles, but even more so in the comments.

Disclaimer: COMMENTS DO NOT COME FROM THE CREATORS OF CNSNEWS.COM.

Yes, and extremist leftist views are very well-represented in ultra-left-wing websites.

Talk about a tautology.

From my OP:

I have to say, reading that site was a real eye-opener. I have several thoughts after reading some of the articles and, even more significantly, the comments provided by their readers.
1) Some of our more extreme right-wingers here on JREF are not just trolls. They actually believe this stuff. They have peers who believe this stuff. Much of what was written on that website sounded EXACTLY like what gets posted here.

2) I think that these sites and other specifically right-wing media create a vacuum...A world where certain 'truths' are accepted. It would be rather difficult to hold some of these views if you are engaged with the larger world on a regular basis. After reading this stuff, you can really see where some of the JREF posters get their ideas.

3) I found some of the comments quite disturbing. Now, I realize with millions of being able to post on the web you will inevitably encounter something grotesque. But, the frequency of these comments was very high. Also, it is not so much the original comment but all of the 'LIKES' that are disturbing. No matter how racist, nonsensical, homophobic, paranoid, or conspiratorial the comment, at least 8 people will say 'Hey, I really LIKE that!'.4) While it is certainly true that accusations of racism often get thrown at conservatives in a cheap and undeserved way, the folks posting at cnsnews.com don't help their case. There were some racist comments there, some subtle and some quite blatant (with several 'LIKES' attached of course...) Some of these people are the same ones who HATE being called racists.

I feel compelled to mention that this website does not represent mainstream conservatism and the views expressed on cnsnews.com would seem grotesque to most Republicans....

No you don't, if you were, you would be dismissing the user comments altogether, and would be searching the articles that were asked of you.

Why would you ask Barber Shop to dismiss the user comments when they were the more significant point of their OP?

Okay, let me make it easy for you. Point out to me the proof of either of these claims:

I hope you won't find that too disturbing.

Where does the word article appear here?

Brainster asked for links.

Brainster asked for evidence.

I provided the evidence that fits well with my OP. My OP was not just about the articles.

If Brainster had specifically asked for ARTICLES about the TWO SPECIFIC BELIEFS that he/she mentioned, then I would have either searched for them or conceded that the COMMENTS but not the ARTICLES put forth these claims.

I'm pretty sure Brainster gets it that the user comments are irrelevant.

For Randi's sake, Pardalis!

Comments were a significant part of my OP!

No, you do not need to explain it again. I keep agreeing with the claim. I VERY SPECIFICALLY said the comments on the site were more disturbing.

I NEVER SAID that the creators of cnsnews.com made all of these claims.
