Explosion at the Boston Marathon.

From New York Times site. Though he's Muslim it doesn't sound like a religious motive to me.

The brothers have substantial presences on social media. On Vkontakte, Russia’s most popular social media platform, the younger brother, Dzhokhar, describes his worldview as “Islam” and, asked to identify “the main thing in life,” answers “career and money.” He lists a series of affinity groups relating to Chechnya, and lists a verse from the Koran, “Do good, because Allah loves those who do good.”
One former schoolmate of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in Massachusetts described him as “very sweet,” adding, “I never heard anyone say a bad word about him.” Another, Meron Woldemariam, 17, the manager of the school volleyball team that Mr. Tsarnaev had played for, said that he had left the team in the middle of the season to wrestle. She described him as normal — sociable, friendly and fun to talk to. He was a senior when she was a freshman.
The older brother left a record on YouTube of his favorite clips, which included Russian rap videos, as well as testimonial from a young ethnic Russian man titled “How I accepted Islam and became a Shiite,” and a clip “Seven Steps to Successful Prayer.”

Some guy on the radio was reporting hearing police yelling in Russian through a megaphone. Might have this kid cornered.

He speaks perfect English. He's been here since his was young, went to high school and goes to college here, why would they need to speak Russian?

If my work with PD's is any indication, to make him feel comfortable.

You're assuming they were "radicalized". I've seen no evidence that they did this for a cause yet.

ETA: As I said earlier, for all we know it could have been whatever the 21st Century version of trying to impress Jodi Foster is.

Well, it's pretty radical to bomb a crowd.

But if you mean radicalized to some view or issue, than no. That's exactly what I've been saying we DON'T have any idea about. It's also what makes me lean away from the poll option "foreign" (Chechen immigrant or not) and more towards "Domestic", though without motive (besides Jodi) terrorist would be better as just sociopathic *******.

Again (fourth time?) we'll see.

Their uncle just called them losers, hating everyone because they couldn't settle themselves.

Yup. I wonder how many "investigators" here contributed substantially to the case while peering at fuzzy photos?
I'm pretty sure your incessant whining is what cracked the case, similar to the way Ella Fitzgerald can shatter a wine glass. Well done, crusader for critical thinking! Well done!

We now have the obligatory "But he was such a nice guy...never would have thought he would have done something like this" interviews with the neighbors.
Love the way they poked fun at that in "The Running Man".

Apparenlty his Uncle does not agree.

Again, for it to be "radical" don't you have to assume a motive?

A radical usually means an advocate of extreme or fundamental change--(from the word for "root").

So what else do you suppose "radicalized" means? Learning how to make bombs? I'm not sure what you mean by the word if you're not assuming some view or issue or political/religious cause.

Isn't that what people always say? "He was always so normal". "He was always so nice, I'm shocked". Religious extremists and terrorists in general don't have "terrorist" written on their forehead.

It's especially silly to make in-depth comments on what kind of person they are without any information by the people that stood him close.

But isn't that normally what they say about serial killers, and not so much about terrorists whose history of fighting for a cause is usually pretty well known?
