Warren is lampooned in Hanson sign
HANSON —The local merchant who put controversial anti-Obama signs outside his store has added two placards showing U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren in a Native American headdress with war paint on her cheeks.
“Elizabeth Warren is a joke. Princess Little Big Liar. Vote Scott Brown United States Senate,” state the signs outside Sullivans Inc., a motorcycle accessories distributor at 121 Franklin St.
“We’re $16 trillion dollars in debt and these politicians don’t seem to care and somebody’s got to pay the tab, right?” owner Robert Sullivan, 64, said Thursday.
Rule 5.5 of the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct states that an attorney cannot, without a license to practice in Massachusetts, "establish an office or other systematic and continuous presence in this jurisdiction for the practice of law." It also states an attorney cannot, without a license, "hold out to the public or otherwise represent that the lawyer is admitted to practice law in this jurisdiction."
Michael Fredrickson, general counsel for the BBO, says he does not believe a law professor would be considered to have "a continuous presence" or "an office practicing law."
"If they actually practice here - as some part-time law professors at some of the smaller schools do - they might," Fredrickson says. "But being a professor at one of the large schools, their office is a professor's office, and the fact that they tend to dabble in the practice of law doesn't run afoul of our rule. I don't think Elizabeth Warren would fall within that, such that she would have to register here."
The most pathetic part is that this type of campaigning is so common because it actually works much of the time. From Willie Horton to Swift Boating, Americans respond to negative campaigning. Are they finally learning? I think that's too much to hope for. I just think the GOP is doing it badly. But the Brown-Warren race is far from decided. It may work again. That is pathetic. No, that is beyond pathetic.

That sign isn't really "campaigning" though, as it wasn't made by the campaign.
I can't be too specific, but I was once nearly sanctioned when an overzealous seller of my product photoshopped something inappropriate and used my logo. This seems similar.

I think the term has a variety of meanings. Personally, I count anything that anyone does in a partisan way as "campaigning", even if it is not "official". If you say, "I'm campaigning for Papoon", does that mean you are employed by him, or just that you support him?
Cynically and fraudulently claiming to be Native American for years, benefiting personally & professionally by gaming the affirmative action system, shutting out actual minorities from job positions, obfuscating and lying about the subject at every opportunity = poor misunderstood lady who just wanted to meet "others like her" for some lattes.
Those who mock the disgusting lying fraud = THE REAL RACISTS!
If the Democrats can throw hold their collective noses and support Lieawatha, the Republicans are more than justified in supporting Todd Akin.
A.) Proof that she knew she wasn't Native American? B.) I don't know that she isn't.Cynically and fraudulently claiming to be Native American for years...

Can you cite your source on this highlighted part. As I understood it, she never gained in any way from this, she just filled out a form as she believed was correct.Cynically and fraudulently claiming to be Native American for years, benefiting personally & professionally by gaming the affirmative action system, shutting out actual minorities from job positions, obfuscating and lying about the subject at every opportunity = poor misunderstood lady who just wanted to meet "others like her" for some lattes.

So who's doing the lying here?

I live in Massachusetts and I'm sick of the racist nutbaggery that constitutes Brown's platform. Months after the Herald had failed to make anything more than a minor stir with this "Fauxcahontas" business, Brown is still working the Cherokee/affirmative action angle in the Senate debates.
