So, "an executive order to create a panel that can remove generals." Yeah, the president purging the military of those who aren't sufficiently loyal to him...that's democracy! Does everyone feel safe? "Definitely not a dictator" vibes coming through strongly!

it's kind of a slap in the face during a congratulations on winning president on national tv to show his wife nude. not something you would do to someone you respect
 
Looks like Border Czar will have the gestapo (national guard) busting into homes to remove those without papers. Otherwise they will not hit Trump's 1 million per year goal.

Sure, I agree. But what does it get Putin? It might upset him, in so far as it’s a sign of disrespect, but it does Trump no actual harm. So to what end? This won’t scare Trump. It won’t intimidate him. It’ll just make him mad.

That's what I was thinking also. But I don't think like Trump. If my wife's semi-nude pics were being shown on tv, I probably wouldn't like it.

Its entirely possible that in Trump's bizarro mind that he might not be upset at all by this. In fact, he might take it as a compliment. Russia thinks his trophy wife is hot. Maybe Putin understands him well enough to know this and this is an attempt at flattery.

I fear that a lot of "brown people" who are in the US legally will have their doors busted in on a regular basis. Anyone with any kind of grievance against anyone with dark skin will merely have to phone up the immigration control organisation and wait to see the result.

It won't matter whether you're a citizen or have a green card, you'll still have your house and life turned upside down while you prove that you're in the country legally. Of course if you're not a citizen and are in the country legally then you may find your visa being cancelled if you're repeatedly brought in (no smoke without fire) or dare to react badly (i.e. get lawyers involved).

Citizens who simply "look like they don't belong" will find themselves being harassed to produce their papers on a regular basis. How you prove your US citizenship will become an important question.

I find myself imagining the "reds under the beds" scare of the '50s in a Black Mirror world where becoming a communist literally turned you red, except there were already lots of people who were just red anyway.

Very much this. People who have immigrated legally, been marginalised, exploited and excluded, but worked hard, supported their family and made it through to become American citizens, will find that all of that means nothing if you've got the wrong shade of skin.

It put me in mind of the Windrush families in the UK, who immigrated from the West Indies after WW2 at the express urging of the UK government, facing racism and bigotry but formed a core of the service industries and in particular the healthcare system, only to find that a generation or more later they were considered illegal and facing deportation. It was shameful, and we can only hope that the US manages to avoid anything similar.

The deportations won't happen to a large extent, too costly and who will take so many in, so the camps will turn into Konzentrationslager.

i mean, we have to wait until they follow through, but all those hitler comparisons people were deriding the last few years are starting to look a little more valid.
