Did Jesus of Nazareth smoked cannabis (or marijuana, weed, pot, the herb, ganja - whatever you call it)? Did he use the oils of the cannabis plant in his spiritual endeavors?

Ask Peter. No wait, Peter will deny it. Ask John - the disciple Jesus loveth.

No, the obvious one to ask is Judas Iscariot! Just slip him some silver, and you'll get the whole story ... and maybe a kiss on the cheek!

But don't ask Thomas ... he makes some of the skeptics here look positively wooish.

As 2000 years ago most people preferred wine to water (bacteria in the water supply), yes I agree. Equally, does not it seem that they also would have had a surplus of cannabis, both as a potpourri, and as an remedy (oil), and as a practice associated with spiritual celebration?

Hippie?
If you mean amotivated, I do not think so; if you mean socially progressive, yes.

But definitely Civilized person, I think JC would have taken the opportunity to join the drum circle and shoot the breeze about brotherly compassion with those stoner hippies. :)

I was thinking of his supposed ability to turn water into wine.

I think Matthew 12:1 pretty much implies JC did partake.

At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn and his disciples were an hungred and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat

munchies, clearly.

Am not sure, but the answer would be relevant to the old discustion of weather he laughed or not.

Many people (myself) do not believe in all those stories that defy physics as literal; just maybe an illustration, allusion, allegory that exist to offer guidance; etc. But noone has to read the Bible, Torah, or other sacred texts to find truth; it seems that all answers that concern the mysteries of the universe and our essential nature can be arrived at through contemplation. Some practices (yoga, mediation, and other practices that can induce non-ordinary states of conscious) can dramatically excelerate that pursuit.

So, JC smokin' a macka spliff with Marley, Buddha, and Krishna?

It's a fact well known to those who know it well that JC abhorred spliffs, pipes, hot knives, vapourisors (sp?) etc and that his preferred method of toking was his hand-carved wooden bong (the so-called holy grail).

LMAO! Brilliant...

^ Yes a wooden streamroller or a indian-style peace pipe. Or a you being facetious?

Any which way, JC tokin' it up?

That's funny, I read about this only yesterday, in a magazine. It had this to say (my translation):

Jesus cured the sick with Cannabis

Jesus was maybe using cannabis salves when he miraculously healed the sick. This startling claim is made by scientists who have closely studied biblical texts. It emerges from these that the salves Jesus used contained the cannabis extract kenehbosum. The substance could have been absorbed through the skin and could have had a healing effect on for example skin- and eye diseases.

Could have had an effect... Not much of a miracle, eh? :)
