DeSantis Martha's Vineyard Stunt

Wouldn't it be nice if all narcissists were intelligent and clever? The world would be more dangerous, but more dramatic too.

But dull, stupid, and brutish narcissists? Christ, but they make you feel dirty. God blast and damn the interweb for constantly exposing us to their filth.

...Exactly how is everything about you, Ron?...

DeSantis appears to be as transactional as trump. There's a method to the madness. By framing everything as 'about me' it allows them (DeSantis and trump) to control the conversation. Which is what they're really after. Especially with issues for which they have no clear policy.

Not exactly sophisticated. It's the mentality of every toddler who doesn't get to eat ice cream whenever they want.

DeSantis is still banging the drum. DeSantis appeared very angry at the news conference Tuesday, warning would-be looters, "We're a Second Amendment state."

As emergency crews searched devastated areas of the state, the death toll from Ian has risen to over 100.

So does that mean that Floridans have an obligation to shoot republican office holders on sight?

How do they know those emergency workers picking through the wreckage are REAL emergency workers? They could be looters pretending to be emergency workers. Best to shoot them first and ask questions later. Ron DeSantis approves this message.

As reported by the Cape Cod Times, this incident appears to have been inspired by DeSantis's stunt.

An off-duty officer with the Massachusetts National Guard who chased a tour bus he thought was bringing migrants to Cape Cod last month has been summonsed to appear in Falmouth District Court on multiple charges, Falmouth police Lt. Michael Simoneau said.

Lt. Col. Christopher Hoffman, 51, followed the bus — which turned out to have been transporting 37 senior citizens from Tennessee on a tour of Cape Cod — for approximately 10 miles, in the evening, from the Bourne Rotary to the Admiralty Inn & Suites in Falmouth. He live-streamed his pursuit of the bus on his Facebook page.

....snip....

A portion of the video Hoffman made while chasing the bus was obtained by the Times. In it, Hoffman jubilantly praises Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' efforts to send migrants who crossed the Southern U.S. border to Cape Cod. He thought the bus was full of migrants because Tallahassee, Florida, was written on the side of the vehicle.
After 10 miles of terrorizing the bus's passengers by tail-gating and making dangerous lane changes to prevent the bus from getting away from him, "Hoffman got into a verbal altercation with passengers on the bus" after it arrived at the hotel, boarding the bus himself to have it out with the terrorized senior citizens. When police arrived, they "tried to calm him down" but were unable to do so. "They eventually sent him to the hospital in an ambulance."

Charges include "operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and disorderly conduct".

Sounds to me like someone needs a mental health evaluation.

His commanding officer agrees with you:
“The Massachusetts National Guard considers the conduct of this soldier to be inappropriate and inconsistent with our military values," Col. Mark Kalin, Commander of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, said in the statement to the Times. "We are currently working to ensure our service member is evaluated and receives any services he may need, while also reviewing appropriate disciplinary actions. The incident is currently under investigation and no further information is available at this time.”

Probably the usual suspects once again

CNN said:
An investigation is underway after over a dozen migrants arrived in Sacramento, California, by private jet “with no prior arrangement or care in place,” Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta said Saturday.

California officials on Saturday met with the group, who had documentation “purporting to be from the government of the State of Florida,” Bonta said.

The immigrants were taken from Texas to New Mexico, then flown by private chartered jet to California, where they were “dumped on the doorstep of a local church without any advance warning,” Newsom said in a statement.

That this kind of scumbaggery is allowed to go on for months and years, with no real means to put a stop to it, is revealing of the parlous state of American politics. Not only have shame and human decency been murdered, buried and forgotten, little if any legal means or will to action appear to be at hand. The activist, political, radical, corrupt and untouchable SCOTUS is a spike into the heart of justice, and is a mightily worrying lurch down that historically well-worn road to national collapse.

Yeah, I know that not all must be tarred with the same brush. But come on! The world looks on as this madness runs amok, with some hand-wringing and tardy, sporadic and picayune pushback being the largely ineffectual pinprick response. The minority of the insane is just too frightfully potent while a slumbrous nation has yet to rub the sleep from its eyes.

As I've mooted before, this is like a waking nightmare, witnessing a kind of rhyming with the cyclical descents into calamity that have beset humanity for as long as history has been recorded. And as occurred too often then, the danger may fail to be perceived until too late.

This kind of thing isn't exactly new in our country's history. Often there has been need of federal government to go into these rogue Southern states and slap them around until they stop engaging in cruel behavior.

Where is Biden's DOJ in this, or on the gallop to criminalize queer expression or interfere in the rights of trans people and women to bodily autonomy? Kinda seems like a running theme that the right's brazenness regularly outpaces the liberals' willingness to take meaningful action.

Send them all back to Florida first class, and charge all costs to DeSantis personally. Not only do the "illegals" end up right back in Florida, the Florida taxpayers will get stung for some very expensive and pointless liberal bird-flipping by Meatball Ron. Repeat until DeSantis gets the message or goes broke.

Yes, when they've broken FEDERAL law or ignored a Supreme Court order that something is unconstitutional as in Brown vs Board of Education in 1954.

What exactly would you have "Biden's DOJ" do? Has DeSantis broken any FEDERAL laws? Since the SCOTUS overturned R v W, abortion rights have become the purview of the STATES. Again, what FEDERAL laws have the red states passing draconian abortion laws broken?

Additionally, "Biden's DOJ" is doing something as U.S. District Judge Gregory Presnell is going "to hold a hearing Tuesday on a motion by operators of the Orlando restaurant Hamburger Mary's for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against the law [barring children from attending "adult live performances] which DeSantis signed last month."

In TN, U.S. District Judge Thomas Parker "struck down a new Tennessee law that sought to prevent "adult cabaret entertainment" performances that could be seen by minors" ruling on First Amendment grounds.

As StacyHS has pointed out, this post shows that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how State laws v Federal laws work.

The Federal government has no jurisdiction over State laws, so long as those laws do not violate the US Constitution or Federal Law. This is why, when Roe was overturned, the anti-abortion States were able to immediately start enforcing trigger laws they had on their books that had previously been inhibited by Roe. It also allowed them to pass new abortion restriction laws.

Biden and his DoJ cannot do anything about States banning books, drag shows or abortions. They would need to pass legislation that would need to first pass by a majority in the House before going to the Senate and being passed by a 60/40 majority. Good luck getting the MAGA Chuds in the House to agree with that!
