Jon Stewart, while a liberal, still points out when the Dems do things wrong. His recent "Why I give up" bit about the 9/11 first responders bill is one bit I have in mind. He also gave Obama a bit of a serve yesterday, which I was a bit disgruntled about. I think Obama is doing very well, against steep odds.

I rather enjoy his appearances on Bill O'Reilly.

I rather enjoy his appearances on Bill O'Reilly.

I don't watch much Fox News anymore, but from what I saw, he was OK but disingenuous. Like he'd make a serious point or two, then O'Reilly would challenge something and he'd put his hands up "Hey, I'm just a comedian." That seemed like a cop out when I saw it.

Jon Stewart has been doing that for a while. I remember back in 2004, he went on CNNs "Crossfire" and criticized them for not really dealing substantively with the issues. When Tucker Carlson pointed out that he had the democrat nominee for the Presidency on his show and he didn't "deal substantively" either, Stewart begged off, saying his lead-in show was about puppets who make crank phone calls and he didn't have to.

But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the fact that Stewart and O'Reilly will go on each others shows and behave civilly while the only way you might see Keith Olberman, or Jeneanne Garafalo on O'reilly is if they are wearing an Al Qeada suicide vest.

Wait, how are we comparing a comedy show that focuses on political punditry for its laughs, to an ALLEGED Political News Show, like O'Reilly or Crossfire?

The person making such a comparison needs to think it through a little more.

I take your points on civility. The more hard-left like on MSNBC seem to pride themselves on their incivility to Bush, for example. Olbermann's rants come to mind.

That's been my view.
Yes it's slanted, but I don't take it all that seriously. It's comedy. They aren't really trying to be fair and balanced.... but they tend to be more fair and balanced than the guys who have it as their motto.

I once had a truther try to use a clip from a The Onion show as proof for his claims. Totally unaware that the show is a fake news show and only proof that truthers will believe whatever they have to in order to fuel their delusions.
