Continuation - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

You've put your finger on it--that's what I would be wondering, if I were a juror.

I don't know that Raffaele can plausibly claim that his admissions were coerced. To reconcile this claim with his diary entries, you have to do some serious cherry-picking. Then there is his "spontaneous declaration" made during the trial, where he complained of not being permitted to contact his father or a lawyer, and whined about being made to go bare of foot for a while. As far as I can make it out, he had no further complaints along these lines.

Perhaps he simply panicked, or perhaps he spoke the truth. Either way, in view of his failure or refusal to take the stand during the first trial, I don't expect to see him there now.

My guess is they managed to convince him when he was 'smoked' that the events of the 1st were really more along the lines of what happened on the 31st when Amanda went out without him. Saying they had 'hard evidence' no doubt.

I wasn't aware it was a big issue at the first trial, perhaps it will come up more in this one and Raffaele will take the stand.

Actually, they have procedures for this in the United States. I deal with these all the time in court when I know I'm going to storm out beforehand. Generally you submit what's called a Motion to Allow Storming Out of Court During Spontaneous Statement of Defendant before that court date.

Love it, HB. I laughed aloud. :D:D:D

Were the other 2 even there?
NO, I believe they were not...

That is what I think of sometimes as I recall the night I watched 4 people I know become consensually intimate while high, drunk and carefree
in a room just a bit larger than the 1 that Miss Meredith Kercher was sexually assaulted and brutally stabbed to her death in, left to die in a pool of her own blood.
Blood which then helped convict the 1 person who,
without a doubt, was surely in Meredith's bedroom that night.

Very well illustrated, RW. You should sent this to Mignini.

Long Chesnut Hair

One example of non-responsiveness is the rather lengthy effort of Mignini, and the judge, to get from her the identity of the officer she alleges cuffed her on the head. She begins with rambling narrative about doing her homework by the elevator, and after multiple re-asking by Mignini interrupted by multiple objections (which Massei comments appear to be "preventive"), and re-asking by the judge, she is only able to say that the officer was female with long brown hair.

I think Amanda knows exactly who cuffed her on the back of the head. She was probably advised not to name the name in order to avoid a slander charge. Mignini got around that by saying its against ALL of the police officers in that case.

It's not hard to figure out who Amanda is talking about.

1. Marco Chiacchiera, vice director, flying squad (in Questura control room).
2. Edgardo Giobbi, head of SCO, Rome (Questura control room).
3. Monica Napoleoni, homicide chief, Flying Squad (went back and forth between Amanda and Raffaele Sollecito's interrogation rooms and Questura control room).
4. Lorena Zugarini, Flying Squad. (Amanda's room).
5. Rita Ficarra, Flying Squad (Amanda's room).
6. Fabio D'Astolto, Flying Squad interpreter (saw Knox on Nov. 2).
7. Ivano Raffo, SCO, Rome (Amanda's room).
8. Anna Donnino, Flying Squad Interpreter (Amanda's room).

Just ask - which one has long chestnut colored hair?

That's what I was thinking.

If he, in fact, was cutting the clasp off, then why there's no trace of his DNA on other parts of the bra? Why only on the clasp? I would really like to hear a possible explanation from the guilters on this one.

Hi snook1 and Poppy. You might be able to find our previous discussions about this with a search of metal and hook or something like that.

Thanks Mary. I'll look that up. I am new here so please bear with me just a bit. I love this forum and and the many highly intelligent posters here. Getting the extra knowledge from all of you well informed posters has helped to solidify my belief in Innocense. I have been following this case for a long time, But I am not as well versed as most here.

Greetings Mary H, and others,
I had to give this 3 + 1 story some thought before I decided to even post it, as I did also about the story I shared the other day about an very pretty, sucessful woman friend of 14 years who, outta the blue the last time we hung out and we were drinking+smokin' 1 day, showed me a coupla video clips that she found amusing. Both stories did happen, both are kinda gnarly. But when I look back on things, they both help me, and maybe others too, to understand that just because someone in a position of power, who is surely never wrong, believes a young woman, who happened to be living her dream by studying abroad, and her new geeky boyfriend, met up with a virtual stranger to commit a rape + murder does not make it so. It might just be his vivid imagination...

You know something , Mary H, out of all the crazy friends I have met in my life,
only 1 guy that I know of that I can remember, a guy named Lance, has been convicted of Murder.
And he was a pretty gnarly dude. And this was nearly 30 years ago.
On another occasion, 2 others friends I used to surf with, Jay and Dennis, 2 gnarly "DogTown" boyz,
started a fight a long time ago that escalted to the point that a guy died
They both, I believe, were convicted of Manslaughter.

In my humble opinion, it is a rare person who will actually commit a murder.
People argue, people yell, people hit. BUT MURDER?
How many future murderers did you ever socialize with at any point in your life? Probably none.
Or people who have stabbed someone with a knife?
Probably none, for that is surely is a very personal way to hurt someone.

And hurting someone, in this particular case, just doesn't make sense.
You're gonna stab your housemate because she got mad at you over a messy toilet? You are gonna murder your housemate because she got mad at you because you brought guy friends over? You are gonna let your housemate get violated and raped because she was prissy and so you were gonna make her have sex*?
Sure...

*PS-Thanks to 'Angel Face' author Barbie Nadeau,
I now know that Meredith Kercher, a modern young woman living in a modern age with a new boy-friend, had anal sex with him in the last 10 days of her life. Prosecutor Mignini surely must have known this, so I wonder why he put these imagined words into Amanda Knox's mouth during his closing arguments?: "You are always behaving like a little saint. Now we will show you; now we will make you have sex".

PSS-Guys sometimes talk of their conquests, for I hear it a lot from the bro's.
Some guys I know are pretty legendary around my neck of the woods.
With that in mind, I wonder if Rudy knew of this too? Maybe he heard Giacomo tell of this recent conquest, and he went over there with the intent to rape instead of rob. Maybe that's why he did not take much. For all anyone knows, Rudy could have had a nylon stocking mask on which covered his face when he entered the gals apartment that night, with the intent to commit a rape. Don't many victims know the rapist?
Hmmm, I wonder...

This thread has a got a tad too large given the activity level so I've created a second "Continuation" thread here.
