Conscious Creation of Reality

Through exploring my mind and friends of mine exploring their minds, the terms reality creation and conscious creation has come up frequently. Recently, I have been reading books such as Ten Thousand Whispers: A Guide to Conscious Creation, Reality Creation 101, and The Reality Creation Technique. What I am coming to understand is that each individual creates his/her own day to day experience; our consciousness creates the lives we experience daily. Whatever we experience, we invite into our world. Our inner thoughts manifest as external experiences. I am learning that we have to be responsible for everything in our lives because we are the ones who manifested those things in the first place. What do you think? Are the familiar with the Seth Material?

So, what thoughts did my sister have that caused that drunk driver to manifest in the lane coming towards her? How did the drunk driver manifest my sister as his victim?

It makes you angry to read that we are responsible for everything we experience in our lives?

Why wouldn't it? You're saying that victims are always responsible for the bad things that occur to them. You're blaming innocent people for things they didn't do. That's cruel. Cruelty makes people angry.

Edited to add: Gnome explained it more clearly than I did.

I am confident in it because it makes sense that realities experienced in universe are organized by means of similarity. I am also confident because I am learning to accept full responsibility for every experience in my life. I am confident in conscious creation because each individual chooses his beliefs; and I am choosing to pick beliefs that empower me.

For beginners, on average, there are approximately 4 billion environmental stimuli signals in a given environment at a given moment; and one’s brain only has the ability to process 4 million of those signals at a certain time. Thus, it is up to the observer to select which signals are most conducive to health, wealth, and happiness. We pick the sensations we want to experience.

There are many things that make intuitive sense that may not be true. This is what logic was invented for us to cope with. Consider the responsibility you are placing on others and on yourself if you are mistaken--the belief that you are responsible for things that are actually beyond your control. That is an unnecessarily painful and self-blaming belief if it is untrue, and with that at stake it seems negligent to be unwilling to consider the alternatives rigorously.

Not successfully. The experiment has been done; beliefs and desires have no effect on the outcome of events.

Myriad, I do not understand the first question. Assuming you meant, ‘Was [it] the mass belief…” I would imagine so.
Why?

Good question. I do not have all the answers. I have just recently become aware that the individual constructs his/her own model of reality by the habitual nature of thought.
Models of reality do not alter reality.

It is true that matter does not materialize in a localized manner until there is conscious observation.
No. No it's not.

I am confident in conscious creation because each individual chooses his beliefs; and I am choosing to pick beliefs that empower me.
Rational individuals do not pick their beliefs at all.

No. That is not how the brain works.

if i created reality, religious people would not be real

I am not weaseling words.

You most certainly are. See below.

Okay, the story. I can only be responsible for the realities I experience and the realities I influence upon others. I had nothing to do with that fire.

There you go again, weaseling the words.

I didn't ask you if you were responsible for the fire or the rape.

I asked you to explain how the boy bore responsibility for being set on fire by another child.

I asked you to explain how the eight-day-old infant is responsible for her father raping her.

How is the baby responsible for her father raping her?
If you really believe this tripe, you can explain how it works.
Not just how it works for you, but how it works for the rest of us.

So explain it.

I do not know. I think about this nearly every day when I am at work, servicing and trying to educate a child who is non-verbal. And then sometimes, I think the child is thinking, “The joke is on you.” I do my very best for the special needs children I assist.

Why doesn't it occur to you that your idea is completely wrong and people don't create their own reality? It seems perfectly obvious that a) no one would choose that reality and b) that everyone living in a particular area wouldn't choose the most abysmal sort of misery imaginable.

Please address this. Was the mass belief that caused the tsunami unanimous among the tens of thousands killed and the millions affected?

If it was, how did that come about? How can millions of people, who all happen to live or work at the same elevation zone in the same region, all come to expect a fear event on the same day? Didn't they have individual consciousnesses and free will?

....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Consciousness_Project

A quasi-scientific effort to answer that question.

The Global Consciousness Project (GCP, also called the EGG Project) is a parapsychology experiment begun in 1998 as an attempt to detect possible interactions of "global consciousness" with physical systems. The project monitors a geographically distributed network of hardware random number generators in a bid to identify anomalous outputs that correlate with widespread emotional responses to sets of world events, or periods of focused attention by large numbers of people.[1] The GCP is privately funded through the Institute of Noetic Sciences[2] and describes itself as an international collaboration of about 100 research scientists and engineers.

Skeptics such as Robert T. Carroll, Claus Larsen!!!, and others have questioned the methodology of the Global Consciousness Project, particularly how the data are selected and interpreted,[3][4] saying the data anomalies reported by the project are the result of "pattern matching" and selection bias which ultimately fail to support a belief in psi or global consciousness.[5] Other critics, whilst disagreeing with GCP findings, have noted that the open operation of GCP "is a testimony to the integrity and curiosity of those involved."[6]
Through The Wormhole tv program had a recent segment on this effort and effect. The data on 9/11/01 appeared to show several seconds pre-cognition before the first plane struck.

He cannot..... he NEEDS to believe his mistaken assertion.

The reason for that is so that he can feel in control.

If he admits that people who suffer are not responsible for their fate he might have to feel sorry for them and being a helpless ignorant deluded child he would feel impotent about not being able to do anything about it which will give him some conflicted feelings.

So it is a lot easier to say:
It is not my fault.... I do what I do and I am responsible for myself. My XBox is because I wished for it hard enough and attracted it to me. Those other morons are not as capable as me and it is their fault for being inferior at fathoming the SECRET… if only they just listened to me.

It is another methodology and strategy for alleviating Cognitive Dissonance.

I stated that reality does not happen without conscious observation; the matter still exists, it is just non-localized when it is not being perceived.

You are cracking me up with the comparison to Roberts and Schuller. I had never heard of them, so I wiki-ed their names. What a character.

Ring any bells? I am not following there.

Matter is only localized upon conscious observation. The sub-atomic arrangement of the quarks is non-localized, when the energy form is out of reach of a being with consciousness; conscious observation facilitates the localization of subatomic particles to construct an experience we call real.

Confirmation bias, I see what you are saying. If something has not manifested though, it is most likely because the individual does not whole-heartedly get behind whatever idea he/she is going for.

As I am a peaceful person and practice non-violation, I cannot be responsible for other people’s life. Are you familiar with the responsibility assumption?

Right. I do not know. I am just becoming familiar with the worldview that the individual is responsible for what they are experiencing.

Looks like you might want to bake this idea a little more then before you present it to people.

I feel you are quite correct.

I also feel this methodology and strategy are quite selfish, and quite sad.

I suggest you might be reading the wrong books. You are indeed creating your own reality. Personally, I prefer to work on keeping my reality as close to the evidence based universe as possible.

No.... what angers me is that a privileged, spoiled and sheltered child wants to blame misery on the victims to alleviate his Cognitive Dissonance.

Son.... it is ok to feel bad for the victims.... you did not and they did not cause their suffering.... try to help if you can .... but if you cannot then that is life.

Just try to not cause harm yourself and to help if you can. Just don't delude yourself and blame the crime on the victims to alleviate your pain.

Don't feel guilty about being privileged.... just don't blame the less privileged for their own suffering.

Deluding yourself with woo and gobbledygook non-physics twaddle may help you alleviate your Cognitive Dissonance....but it will make you a victim yourself sooner or later and will also make you a callous dullard.

Try your best to not allow yourself to be part of a Petri Dish.

If it makes someone feel more confident to focus their will on things that they want, then I am all in favor of it. But one need not gild the lily and imagine it gives them magical powers over fate, nor substitute that focus of will for taking action.

Let's say you know of a man living in a cardboard box under an overpass and you want to help him. Are you able to help better by envisioning a better reality for him, really hard and sincerely, or by leading him to a shelter--or if you're a bigger picture kind of person, contributing money or time to an organization that can help people like him?

A lot of meaningless platitudes and religious/spiritual nonsense but no evidence. Unsurprising.

I agree with that analysis. It explains a lot of religious/prayer-related beliefs and behavior as well.

So, am I to understand that we are creating our own trolls and crackpots?

learner said:
If I create my own reality, then why the hell am I so fat?

You have just over-created. Cut back a little. It's a common mistake. I do it myself. :)
Haven't you ever heard someone say, "Man, if I even think about a piece of cake, I gain five pounds." See how that works?

the matter still exists, it is just non-localized when it is not being perceived.
Does this apply to humans only: what humans perceive, exists. But what _animals_ perceive, is unessential and does not necessarily exist? Also if apes or gorillas perceive something, it is unessential and does not necessarily exist? What about if Cro Magnon or Neanderthal perceive something?

Do people and animals exist only if others perceive them? In that case, whose perception wins if two people perceive (or fail to perceive) each other differently?

I wonder what happens if two people (not to say a hundred people) perceive location of the same matter differently. Where will it be located then? Or would all those people exist in different universes?

Roberts and Schuller. I had never heard of them, so I wiki-ed their names.
They teach/taught the religious version of Positive Thinking, a bit like what you teach, but spiced up with lots of Bible Verses (and petitions to send 10% of your money to them).

Ring any bells? I am not following there.
Basketball player throwing free throws is not a good analogy for the human mind controlling the universe, because we all know and agree that our mind controls our body parts (by electric signals sent through the nerves). We know the whole story from a physical perspective, how the signal goes from the brain and reaches the muscle and triggers muscle movement.

You, on the contrary, claim that the human mind controls the universe in ways about which we have no knowledge or evidence. We know of no physical mechanism which would go from your brain to a building and define its existence. Yet you claim that such a mechanism exists. But you have no evidence proving the claim to be true.

As I am a peaceful person and practice non-violation, I cannot be responsible for other people’s life.
So is it your choice, do you choose not to reduce suffering of other people, or is it a limitation of the system, so that you would not be capable of helping others by the power of thought -- even if you wanted?

You are free to form whatever beliefs you want to.

In this case, I am declining to believe something there is no reason to believe.

From my view, it does explain the nature of our experience. It does predict success.

It may be consistent with our experiences, but then so is the belief that everything in the Universe was once a penguin made of chocolate. Can you prove it wasn't?

How do you measure an experience?

You don't. You measure things that are measurable.

Anyway...this isn't really a fair discussion, as it appears you are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to the most basic principles of critical thinking. Good luck to you.
