Ed Clintonemails.com: Who is Eric Hoteham Part 3

Not open for further replies.
Bill chatted up a friend he ran into. Apparently they went in the plane because it was over 100F on the tarmac.

[/story]

Now MSNBC is reviewing the entire email event and CNN has it coming up next. There is absolutely no news except that Sat Hillary FBI meeting is on after all.

Cue the CTs that Clinton put his New World Order foot down and told Lynch to end the ongoing investigation in 3...2...1...

Which is huge news. A presumptive nominee has never been questioned by the FBI before. Of course this is newsworthy.

I think they want to wrap this up before the conventions. They probably already know if they're going to recommend charges. This whole thing might be over by next week.

Or entering a new phase.

They already know they aren't reccomending charges.

And yeah, maybe even as soon as next week. Why not ? The interview was likely just a formality.

Will FBI Director Comey (a Republican) become a part of the conspiracy when it comes out that the FBI is not going to recommend charges?

I guarantee it.

There's always conspiracy theories, but I don't think it will attract many people. People on both sides say Comey is a stand-up guy with a reputation for integrity. If he doesn't think there's a case, there's not a case.

CNN and MSNBC are both reporting that unless Clinton tripped up something in today's interview, there will be no indictment.

The Republicans and their "leader" Donald Trump will certainly go with conspiracy theories.

If a law student wrote "In this example, Bill just chatted up a friend, no story" on this Professional Responsibility exam softball, that student would surely fail. Bill Clinton, a former lawyer certainly knows this, but already being disbarred for past violations, may not care. AG Lynch, the highest federal prosecutor in the nation, on the other hand really has no excuse.

As noted above, she is either incompetent or corrupt.

Bill is not Hillary. It would have been socially awkward for Lynch to tell Bill to leave. It's highly unlikely anything untoward was discussed. Maybe there were even staff around listening to the conversation or perhaps one or both of them thought the conversation was not private making it little more than a social call.

Good for a 15 minute story and maybe a social/professional scolding.

The whole rest of this story is making a HUGE mountain out of a molehill.

Hillary didn't do anything. It's ludicrous either Bill or Loretta discussed the case.

Like I said, a 15 minute story would have covered it if the news media wasn't into manufacturing scandal.

"Dear Professor, I should not have failed my Professional Responsibility exam because everyone knows social awkwardness trumps legal ethics. Besides, powerful people never use their wealth and connections to influence criminal investigations."

As noted above, AG Lynch is either incompetent or corrupt.

Your opinion is noted. Wrong, but noted.

There ya go. That's the ticket. This will be the crux of the next eight years of conspiracy theorist posting. Yeah, I miss BAC, too. You guys practice up, because this is what you'll be mewling about.

First, the in-depth non-report of non-findings by the best witch hunting team GOP money can buy, next dismissal of fantasies about the server.... Oooh, that's gonna hurt.

Yeah? Ask 100 ... no, make that 1,000 law students to answer that "Lynch meets Clinton on airplane for 30 minute 'chat' during ongoing criminal investigation of his wife" hypothetical on a Professional Responsibility exam and see what answer you get.

But maybe we shouldn't expect that sort of competence or lack of corruption from our nation's top prosecutor.

Honored to participated in a Latino Leaders roundtable w/ President @billclinton today in Phoenix #LatinosOnTheMove

Because it's 110 in phoenix in the morning ? Do tell...

http://www.wsj.com/articles/attorne...ch-met-privately-with-bill-clinton-1467243697
Ms. Lynch said at a press conference that the Clinton meeting was unplanned. Mr. Clinton was apparently waiting to fly out of the Phoenix airport when Ms. Lynch’s plane coincidentally landed there. The former president then walked over to the attorney general’s plane to speak to Ms. Lynch and her husband.

So it seems they met on the plane she flew in on.

:eye-poppi
Just want to put this here so sunmaster14 doesn't forgot to respond ..

Donald J. Trump‏ @realDonaldTrump
It was just announced-by sources-that no charges will be brought against Crooked Hillary Clinton. Like I said, the system is totally rigged!

I haven't exactly been glued to my TV or web news feeds, but I have heard people on the radio discussing this topic, and seen references in articles. The people complaining about this meeting being unethical seem to be talk show hosts and politicians. I haven't seen or heard any guests that were law school professors or law students.

It seems to me that if you were correct, if this were such an obvious breach of Professional Responsibility rules, it would be easy enough to have a guest on for a 30 second spot to say so.

In other words, I get a feeling that if you asked 1,000 students, assuming that they had passed their class in Professional Responsibility and that their knowledge of the subject reflected the teachings of their professors, they would actually say that, really, no violation of Professional Responsibility took place.

You could easily counter that feeling of mine by providing actual commentaries by actual law professors. I would be willing to read them.

I'm pretty sure it's an ethical violation for the leader of the department leading an investigation to even put herself in a situation which would give the appearance to a reasonable person that there could be some impropriety. Privatley meeting with the husband of a subject under investigation, as Lynch admits herself, gives the appearance of impropriety. So it's at least an ethics violation. I'm mobile right now but I'm pretty sure ethical violations are against some federal statute. I'll look it up and post later.

You have hit on a pet peeve of mine.

The appearance of impropriety is frequently conflated with actual impropriety. it isn't, and the distinction is important. There are no statutes which punish appearances of impropriety. If something violates a statute, it is improper. it doesn't appear improper.

In some cases, corporations or governmental entities have rules that prohibit certain activities for fear that engaging in those activities might contribute to the appearance of impropriety, but those are policies of that organization, not actual ethical or legal violations.

Doing unethical things is improper, and might land you in legal hot water. Doing things that might make someone suspect that you may have done something unethical is bad public relations, and might make your boss angry.

As noted above, she is either incompetent or corrupt.

Or, she was put in a pretty uncomfortable position and didn't make the best decision. She should have suggested they take the conversation outside, or at the very least have many more ears around for its duration.

But, if we don't assume that there was some nefarious plot at work, it would wreck the whole "EMAILACORRUPTIGAZI!!" theme that's been worked up.

It was a bad call by Bill. Flat out. No getting around it. Terrible, terrible, terrible idea. That doesn't mean anything untoward went down. People make mistakes.
