CIT/Air America Debate Challenge

Another reason to not join these people on the air: Rob Balsamo is listed as a co-producer. If any of us join the debate, he will be a successful co-producer.

ETA: I'm sorry, pom. On this, I simply disagree. You of all people should understand the ins and outs of producing something for the air. If you were going to get credit, that's one thing. But I don't know that you'd want Air America on your resume anyway. :)

I am surprised by the attitude here. I would be classed as a truther since I have concerns about elements of 9/11, but I too think that CIT and PFT are peddling garbage. I am tempted to ring in myself but I don't have the knowledge some people here have.

All respect to pomeroo for taking a stand, and shame on Mark Roberts for sending a begging letter rather than appearing on the show and debunking them.

You talk trash like a truther. Why does Mark have to do anything. These people have zero evidence. You can call in, as you say, and debate them.

You are talking trash! No one has to call in and oppose stupid ideas which anyone can debunk.

These 9/11 truth believers and these frauds have no evidence; do you? It has been 6 years.

There are arguments to be made both ways on this issue. I generally don't agree with letting nonsense stand unrefuted, but:

1. Barrett's involvement is a deal-killer for me. I do not believe in debating anything with a Holocaust denier, even if the topic is not the Holocaust.

2. The PentaCon theory is easily the second most marginal of 9-11 Denial theories, surpassed only by the "no-planer" theories.

3. The audience for Air America's Clout is miniscule; as I pointed out above it is not even carried on many AA affiliates. If this was a BBC show or someplace that actually had an audience it would be different.

4. Speaking for myself only, SLC imposes an oddball responsibility. We are the second highest traffic site on 9-11 topics (behind only 9-11 Blogger). Because so many "Truthers" read our site daily, if we pan something, we ironically give it credibility. Hence we (mostly) don't cover the no-planers and other weird theories.

I have no problems with Ron doing the show, or with other debunkers or even "Truthers" who disagree with the PentaCon theory phoning in. It just doesn't work for me.

Do you want to paint it as right vs. wrong? If so, what would be your decision on whether or not to debate a Holocaust denier?
