Chemtrail crankery

I remember I once saw a video about chemtails on Youtube a few months ago. The comment section was hilarious. One comment I can clearly remember was from a woman saying: "Why is the government doing this to us? Why do they hate us? :cry1".

Most of them, were crying smileys.

Too bad I can't find that video anymore. :D
 
Having observed contrails since they were relatively new, I can report that back then they did not behave as they do now, the increasing numbers of jets notwithstanding.

What is to blame for contrails spreading out so far and lasting so much longer than they did in the fifties? Pollution? They did not do that back in the fifties.

there are some reports of them doing that back then but it didn't happen as often.

There are also newspaper articles describing spreading persistent contrails from the 40's 50's and 70's here

In addition to the increased amounts of jet traffic, aircraft today fly on average higher (which can increase contrail frequency) and they have different engines. Newer engines often have more water in the exhaust and the high bypass engines compress more air for the combustion. Both can increase contrail persistence.
I also read a long time ago a study that said the increased traffic led to increased conditions of contrail persistence but I was never able to find it again.

Really you took notes back then on jet contrails? Remarkable. You made some claims up above (pun intended) so do you have any actual evidence this is true or is this just another 'Bubbanonfactoid'?

In 2011 watched 2 totally unmarked, all white tanker size jet planes drop in below a ridge line, banking and spraying white stuff from their wings (not from engines) over a California mountain town.

I was at a kitchen window. The ridge was about 1.5 miles away. The planes emerged from just below the ridgeline. I later checked the distance as the road to town rounded the ridge.

WTF was that?

So did cirrus clouds not exist back then? That is all contrails are. The same conditions that allow cirrus clouds to persist allow contrails to persist.

Since cirrus cloud DID exist then and they did occasionally last all day then it is possible for contrails to have done so as well.

AGAIN there are reasons they are more common now. See post 23

I watched hundreds or thousands of them never do what they sometimes do today.

And I did observe the 2 unmarked white tanker types spraying below a ridgeline as I said earlier.

So you got the equipment and took the time to zoom in and verify there were no markings (because it is next to impossible to see tail numbers with the naked eye from a distance without zooming) but you didn't bother to get a video?
