Buzz lightyear and the JREF Challenge

Riiiggghhhtttt. You have an ability that no one in the history of mankind can do, claim it's perfectly simple, and yet you claim to be out of practice at it? You DO realise that a simple demonstration of this would turn physics on it's head? There are many things I would NOT do for US$1MM, but putting up with a migraine is not one of them.Ah - illusion. I thought you were serious!

"I bought me an illusion and I put it on the wall,
I let it fill my head with dreams and I had to have them all.
"

Guns'n'Roses, "Locomotive", from the album "Use Your Illusion II"

Yea I read about the million dollar challenge. I dont think I would be able to do it now because it has been a quite a few years since I did my last levitation thing.

Typical cop-out.

This type of physical energy output only lasts for a few minutes and it goes away. Then the terrible migraines comes into full effect. That was for me, I dont know about you or others, you might be able to do it better than I can.

For a million bucks ?

physics have been defied many times by people all over the world. It is just the scientific community which has not been finding such defiance acceptable. If the chinese man could do, so could I. So could you. We are no different if you look at it that way.

one such classic example of science turning its head the other way. Science is about making money for its investors, thats all it does.

you guys are that desperate, looking for people to get rid of your million dollar challenge?

well, fortunately 1 million dollars means nothing to me.

It probably means a hell of a lot to the caritative organization of your choice. Nobody says you must keep the money.

Surely, such a generous offer is worth a migraine? Shutting up skeptics and turning science on its head is merely a bonus.

Hahaha.

caritative as in charities? didnt you know that most charities are scams and frauds? They appear legitimate but in the background, they do keep the money donated to them by anyone after making unannounced hefty and hidden profits.

skeptics will always remain skeptics. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to prove to entire world without being criticized, dragged through the streets by the hair, etc. Turning science on its head, are you saying that science do listen to people? Science is all about making money, nothing more.

Even if I demostrated this levitation act, they will view it as a magic trick or a illusion, nothing more.

Evidence?
ETA: and hey, ok then, keep the million and start your own honest-to-goodness charity. Set the example. Hand the money personnally to those in need.

Even if I demostrated this levitation act, they will view it as a magic trick or a illusion, nothing more.

That's why the JREF and many others organizations strive to establish protocols that have a clear-cut way to judge weither a demonstration has succeeded or failed, objectively and unequivocally. Once the protocol is agreed upon, the JREF cannot back out saying that you cheated without proof that you did, in fact, cheat.

what evidence must I provide? did you ever try giving a couple of quarters to a bum living on the street once or even did you give some money to a charity? the bum and the charity has the same basic principle. Thats the science community for you.. "you must prove this, prove that, and prove that"... once the undaunting task of "proving it" is done, then they will shut you up and bury you in the back yard.

Science has always done that to people. All science ever care, is about making more, and more money for its own investors.

the 1 million dollar challenge is nothing to JREF. They have the procedures where you relinquish all your rights to them so they can proceed proclaiming to the world to make more money off of you.

ETA: start my own honest to goodness charity? nope.. there is nothing honest in a charity. I would have to become crooked and corrupt like the other charity organization heads if I want to upstart one.

another ETA.. whoops. I'll probably get kicked out of the forum for saying something like the truth....

Perhaps if you demonstrated your levitation act to a stage magician who knew about most of the possible tricks and would pay you some money - let's say a million dollars - for a proper demonstration.

Now, where would you find someone like that...?

I submit a prediction, termite37: You will continue to ramble, bait and bicker but never do a demonstration of your alleged act.

Uh?

Well, you must understand, our friend has a big problem with proving.

Ask david copperfield.. he did it. I saw it clear on tv. he levitated a woman off the stage and floated her into the audience for everyone to touch..

Your prediction is correct. I will not do a demostration of my "alleged" act. All I ever spoken about is my experience of what I witnessed and learned about. Nothing more. Why should I demostrate? Popularity and fame isnt my cake.

Oh. So you just wanted to share a story.

Ok.

That was a pretty story. I have no clue what you aimed to achieve by posting it, but waddyawant.

Again, typical cop-out.

If you woo-woos were really that philantropic, you could earn the million dollars, contribute to a drastic change in the way we see science, AND give a million dollars to the charity of your choice. How could this possibly be bad ? How can you NOT be interested in doing so much good for other people ?

The only logical explanation is that you have no paranormal ability, whatsoever, and you know it.

That is an unsupported assertion; and, I surmised, another cop-out.

They appear legitimate but in the background, they do keep the money donated to them by anyone after making unannounced hefty and hidden profits.

If that were true, your claim about them would be easy to verify. If you claim they skim some money off the top; sure, that's possible. All of it ? You're very naive.

skeptics will always remain skeptics.

And they should. The alternative is being a dupe.

There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to prove to entire world without being criticized, dragged through the streets by the hair, etc.

This is not a witch-hunt. If someone could show that these powers exist, it could revolutionise medecine and science in general. I'd go for that.

Turning science on its head, are you saying that science do listen to people? Science is all about making money, nothing more.

That's the biggest load of crap I've heard all month.

1. Scientists are usually pretty interested about discovering stuff. Otherwise they'd find another, less frustrating job.

2. Yes, making money is important, because you do have to feed the kids. However, even someone of your intelligence can agree, I'm sure, that there's a lot of money to be made with working technologies. So why not levitation ?

Even if I demostrated this levitation act, they will view it as a magic trick or a illusion, nothing more.

Not if the test were properly conducted. Such a test would preclude the use of tricks. What are you affraid of ?

Science has always done that to people. All science ever care, is about making more, and more money for its own investors.

I don't think you know what "science" is.

the 1 million dollar challenge is nothing to JREF. They have the procedures where you relinquish all your rights to them so they can proceed proclaiming to the world to make more money off of you.

The JREF is a non-profit organisation. If they make money off of you, they could lose their special status. Also, they do not ask for money in order to proceed with the test.

Boy, you're just one huge mountain of straw, aren't you ?

hahaha

ure ignorant to the truth of science. In fact you're so blind and preconditioned.

I did work in a science division for many years...whew am I glad I ever got out of that. Experience counts.

Hmm.. non profit org?

Ahh

I just wanted some attention to what I witnessed. But however i will shut up about it. Too many skeptics with cold hearts around here.

Just curious: what kind of welcome did you hope for/expect? Do you object to us asking you to back up your claim of extraordinary powers, or do you object only to the manner in which we questionned your story?
