Bullhorning Bilderberg was yesterday

I love this. 9/11 deniers and other theorists claim these Bilderburg meetings are secret yet..

Well, look at that crowd. Apparently it is illegal for people to meet up privately and talk now. I guess we should be arresting anyone who lives with their families.

Yes but some of them are public officials, they shouldnt be having private meetings with influential members of media and business as well as other countries without the public knowing about it. If they stop serving as public officials, then it would be ok because they are no longer serving anyone.

I also find it ironic they can be allowed all the privacy they want yet the government can freely spy on us through email, phone conversations, etc because we all might be potential terrorists. What happened to OUR privacy? To fight terrorism, they can be trampled, but for private meetings of the rich and influential political and business leaders? Never!:p

Here's a famous quote attributed to Rockefeller, originally cited in this thread
http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139257&page=2

"We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine, and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination [read as 'democracy'] practiced in past centuries."

--June 5, 1991, Bilderberger meeting in Baden Baden, Germany (a meeting also attended by then-Governor Bill Clinton)

This quote apparently was also reported in the french media for a short time before it was quashed. I've found that it was also supposedly reported by Hilaire duBerrier in his HDub Reports, transcripts of which I have not been able to locate.

From Wikiquote
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Talk:David_Rockefeller#Bilderberg

According to the article “Behind The Bias” (W. N. Grigg, The New American, February 10, 2003, p. 4), “Excerpts from Rockefeller’s opening address were leaked to two independent French publications. They then came to the attention of Hilaire du Berrier, an international correspondent living in Monaco, who published them in his newsletter, HduB Reports.”

According to various internet sources, the French publications were Minute, 19 June 1991, and Lectures Françaises, July/August 1991 and it was the HduB Reports of September, 1991 which republished the quote.

I haven't been able to verify any of this myself. Here are links to the periodicals, in case anybody in France wants to go to the bibliothèque. I'm not absolute sure that this Minute is the correct one.

Oh goody, quotes! And here I was thinking there’d be absolutely no evidence of the NWO’s plans for world domination.

Hope you're proud now, DC. Grüezi to the Gnomes!;)

American AJ fans?

Boy, they are going to love shopping in Switzerland, especially St Moritz.

Expect rumours of hyper-inflation to increase on the Prison Planet forums.

For those of you still thinking Bilderberg is just a benign meeting of influential politicians and business leaders, I would advise you to watch this 4 minute CNN brief. The analyst Jon Ronson pretty much describes the meetings being about controlling world politics from behind the scenes and doesn't seem to think its a big deal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLnFlfhwzLU

Many members of the Bilderberg see themselves in much the same way as the conspiracy theorists see them: as shadowy figures out to influence world events. They see themselves as wise globalist centrists...they see themselves as nationalists. World government is what Bilderberg are into...

The Bilderberg Group sees themselves as head hunters. They’ll get an up and coming politician who they think may be President or Prime Minister one day and as globalist and industrialist leaders, they try to influence them. Bilderberg secrecy hulks back to Henry Kissinger who loves the idea of working in the shadows. The secrecy gives rise to conspiracy theories.

I wonder whether Jon agrees with your paranoid inferences based on his soundbites?

Sorry to not engage any further. When I asked I usually say that the Bilderbergers see themselves in a not wholly different way to the way the conspiracy theorists see them, but that's a bit of a trite answer. I think the real answer is that self-selecting elites obvious exist for a reason, but it's nonsense to say they hold secret power over the world.

The Bilderberg Group was set up - I suspect - for idealistic reasons. The West had just thwarted Hitler and thought politics should be in the hands of business, not ideological politicians. We see that corporations misuse power though, and so I suspect the idealistic roots of Bilderberg probably get a bit warped.

Apparently not.

And Jon would probably ask you to read the book rather than basing your entire ideology on youtube soundbites.

You've just contradicted yourself by posting those quotes.

Ronson doesn't say Bilderberg tries to "control world politcs". He says some of them try to influence people and events.

Thanks for the clip. I like Jon Ronson.

I would be happy to when I get the chance to pick it up, but I don't think its fair to call a 4 minute interview a "sound bite", that's usually referred to as a few seconds of audio.

Umm... why should we? I think Jose Zapatero was the only elected official on your list; why should we be thoroughly informed when he meets the head honchos of Microsoft, The Washington Post, or Telefonica?
I'm certainly not into CT about the Bilderberg group, but I think you can legitimately question to what extent public officials of various stripes can attend such confidential meetings without breaching their accountability to the public.

The list you reacted to contained only the Spanish attendees; and as public official I'd also count the Spanish Queen on that list - more on that later - and Léon Gross, secretary-general in the PM's office. Furthermore, there's Nout Wellink, the president of the Dutch national bank; Olaf Scholz, vice-president and (then) MP for the German social-democratic party; Carl Bildt, Swedish FM; a number of members of the House of Lords; a number of European commissioners; and other politicians and civil servants.

In particular I want to question WTH royals like the Spanish Queen and the Dutch Queen have to do there. The Dutch Queen is supposed to have no real political power, but more, the PM is responsible for everything she says and does. She should stay indoors, cut ribbons here and there and hold a nice noncommittal Xmas speech. Or is she present because her arch-opportunistic, NSDAP card carrying father Prince Bernhard founded the Bilderberg conference?

Two days to go, the first protesters have arrived. With a grain of salt, here's James Corbett for Global Research TV with "Background, Preview and Predictions".

Charlie Skelton said:
[...] Early this morning a Swiss website published a genuine-sounding list of delegates to this year's conference. A couple of names leapt out, both of them Bilderberg alumni: Lord Mandelson (2009) and George Osborne (2006-2009).

On the 2011 delegate list, Osborne appears thus:

Osborne, George, Chancellor of the Exchequer.

I've just spent the entire day trying and failing and failing and trying again to get an official confirmation that Osborne is attending the St Moritz conference, and if so, in exactly what capacity he's here.

At long last the Treasury Press Office gave me a straight answer, but it wasn't the answer I was expecting: "George Osborne is attending the Bilderberg conference in his official capacity as Chancellor of the Exchequer" – and he's coming along "with a number of other international finance ministers." Any Treasury staff? "Probably not more than one."

So – ok – you mean we're paying for Osborne to be here? You mean he's on Treasury business? You mean this is an official summit? You mean he's talking economic policy with the Chairman of Royal Dutch Shell, the CEO of Airbus, and Russian oligarch Alexey Mordashov, the billionaire CEO of Severstal? And Henry Kissinger? In secret? Behind a police cordon? [...]

The list was published by 20min.ch. Attendees from international institutions:

Almunia, Joaquín Vice President, European Commission
Daele, Frans van Chief of Staff to the President of the European Council
Kroes, Neelie Vice President, European Commission; Commissioner for Digital Agenda
