WILLIAMS: Well, our next guest's father went missing in 2000. Four months later he was found dead. Take a look at this.
Ms.
BROWNE: Mm.
(Excerpt from videotape)
ASHLEY: Right after I graduated high school in June of 2000, I saw my dad for the last time. He was at my uncle's house. My mom came to pick me up, and he was sitting there on the porch, and I told him goodbye, and I told him I loved him. But I had no idea that that was the last time that I would see him.
He was missing for almost four months. The four months that he was missing we had no idea where he was. We didn't know if he was dead or alive. And on October 15th, 2000, he was found in his car off the side of the road, off--250 feet over the mountain. He was tied to the driver's seat with jumper cables, and the car was lodged between two trees on its top.
He was found by a man who was scouting for deer, and the car was covered with debris. There was a hole in his shirt, and there was a piece of metal lodged in his chest, but they have no leads. They have no idea who could have done this to my dad. The case is still unsolved. The investigation was horrible. There basically was no investigation.
Without knowing what happened to my dad, we can't have closure. It's horrible living with the fact that we don't know what happened to him, and there's nothing we can do about it. And that's why I need
Sylvia's help.

WILLIAMS: Please welcome Ashley to the show.
You already said,
Sylvia, `I do.'
Ms.
BROWNE: Are you aware that there was a business deal that was supposed to go down?
ASHLEY: All that we knew was that he was supposed to have been going to try and sell a truck for a man that he knew.
WILLIAMS: That was a business deal.
Ms.
BROWNE: Yeah, that's a business deal. The man that did this was a man by the name of...(censored by network).
ASHLEY: What does this--what this man look like? What does he do?
Ms.
BROWNE: Actually, he looks like a rugged cowboy type, you know what I mean? And he also has a tendency to work on cars.
ASHLEY: Why did he--why did he do this?
Ms.
BROWNE: Because he's crazy. And the business deal seems to have something to do with a transfer, or--well, yeah, you said something about truck, buying something.
ASHLEY: Uh-huh.
Ms.
BROWNE: But it wasn't what he thought. He got enraged because your dad said he didn't want to do it. Do you see what I'm saying? He got enraged.
ASHLEY: Right.
Ms.
BROWNE: A lunatic, you can drop a feather, and they'll get enraged. Do you see what I mean?
ASHLEY: Right.
Ms.
BROWNE: Anything can set him off.
ASHLEY: Was--was he alone in this? Did he have any help?
Ms.
BROWNE: No, he was alone in it.
ASHLEY: Was--was my dad--was he alive when he went over the mountain in that car, or was he dead before he went over the mountain?
Ms.
BROWNE: Oh, he was dead, honey. He was dead. He was gone.
ASHLEY: Did he go quickly?
Ms.
BROWNE: Yes, thank God. But you know, if somebody's holding a gun on you, you'd just about would let him do anything. Do you know what I'm saying?
ASHLEY: So was he tortured?
Ms.
BROWNE: No, he was not tortured.
ASHLEY: Why was he tied? Why was he tied to the seat with jumper cables?
Ms.
BROWNE: I think that this lunatic--let's call him a lunatic--wanted him to give in about this business deal or whatever it was, this transfer of title or something. I don't know what. But he got really upset.
ASHLEY: Why would--why wouldn't my dad just give in? Why?
Ms.
BROWNE: Your dad? Did you know your dad?
ASHLEY: Well, yes, I knew---I knew my dad. But I thought...
Ms.
BROWNE: Well, I bet you I know him better. Your dad didn't give into diddly squat if he didn't want to.
ASHLEY: No, but I also meant that he would do anything for his family.
Ms.
BROWNE: But honey, that has nothing to do with principle.
WILLIAMS: If he didn't know it was coming.
Ms.
BROWNE: No, if he didn't know it was coming.
ASHLEY: So he didn't expect this?
Ms.
BROWNE: No, he didn't expect a lunatic to start tying him up and holding him at gunpoint.
WILLIAMS: I got to take a break. We'll take a little break.
Ms.
BROWNE: That has no bearing with what I'm saying. The deal went sour. He wasn't going to do it.
WILLIAMS: We'll be back right after this.
