WILLIAMS: That's right, ...(unintelligible). Please welcome Sonya to the show. Where's Sonya at? Hi, Sonya. You wanted to ask Sylvia about what happened to your brother, correct?
SONYA: Yes.
WILLIAMS: Why don't you tell us what happened?
SONYA: On October 12th, 2001, my brother had come up missing. He was accused, from just hearing through the town, that he had stolen a van. When we had--the van ended up being in the next state, which was West Virginia, over an embankment. There was no fingerprints, nothing. It was wiped clean. We feel that he did not steal that van because he was also driving my dad's Jeep at the time. My dad's Jeep appeared at the house the day after his disappearance.
WILLIAMS: Now, explain something real quick. Because your dad's Jeep that he had borrowed appeared at his house after he disappeared but appeared in the yard, correct?
SONYA: Correct.
WILLIAMS: It wasn't in the driveway.
SONYA: No.
WILLIAMS: It was...
SONYA: It appeared up in the yard, and my dad had seen someone run down over the hill and get in another vehicle and leave. So...
WILLIAMS: And then--wait. This van that was found was found in another state, correct?
SONYA: Correct.
WILLIAMS: And in the other state that it was found in, it was found three days later, correct?
SONYA: It was found three days later in West Virginia.
WILLIAMS: Your mother made some phone calls, did she not, right after your brother came up missing?
SONYA: Yes. Right after my brother disappeared she had made a phone call to a local club where my brother went and played pool there. And someone had answered the phone and told her to go look at the nearest ditch and she would find her son.
WILLIAMS: And then someone else also--she called twice. Did not the other person say something about the fact that your brother had stolen something and it's...
SONYA: Yes. That he had stolen money and a van and he's on the run, which we did not believe. We've also received several phone calls at home. We had received a phone call that someone acting like my brother, telling us how they loved us. We have went--and we had a search down in West Virginia in a body of water, but what I really want is--I need a specific location on where I can find him, why something--if someone did something to him, why? And just...
Ms. BROWNE: First of all, he's not alive, OK? Secondly, he got in with a ring--a ring--he didn't even realize this--of car thieves. You know how somebody can get pulled into--this is not the only car, the Jeep and the van or whatever. There were other cars that were missing. Do you see what I'm saying? He was gonna go to the authorities, and they bumped him off. He was gonna tell on them. Do you see what I'm saying? He said, 'I--I know what you guys are doing.'
WILLIAMS: Are there answers at that club?
Ms. BROWNE: Yes, at--at the billiard place or wherever this place is.
WILLIAMS: How about the body? Where it might be?
Ms. BROWNE: The body is in--it's really funny that they say a ditch because there is a ditch, and then the water is right near the ditch, so it's in--actually in the water.
WILLIAMS: In Virginia, or in--where's your hometown?
Ms. BROWNE: No, in--in--no, in Virginia.
SONYA: West Virginia or Pennsylvania?
Ms. BROWNE: No, no, in Virginia.
SONYA: West Virginia? 'Cause we have had a search out in West Virginia. We've had, but with it...
Ms. BROWNE: Do you know, every time that I know a body is in water, I just--my--honestly, I just freeze. Do you know how hard it is to find a body in water? You know that.
SONYA: Are we--we're never--are we ever gonna find him?
Ms. BROWNE: (Shakes head)
SONYA: Are we ever gonna find out who did this to him?
Ms. BROWNE: Yeah. Who is it that you ha--your mother has talked to at the club by the name of (censored)?
SONYA: Someone had also said that he was shot. Was he shot?
Ms. BROWNE: (Shakes head)
SONYA: No?
Ms. BROWNE: No, hit over the head, already gone, strangled on top of that, already dead, and then dumped in water.
SONYA: OK.
WILLIAMS: Let me take a break. We'll be back right after this.
