Boycott Israel

It's my opinion that when people rejects the government that's when it starts to stop being a democracy.
I'd say that depends entirely on what form that rejection takes. It's true that a democracy can't operate if people don't recognize the legitimacy of the elected government, but that could be a symptom as well as a cause, and sometimes there's a thin line between opposing the government and rejecting it outright.

The Star Wars themed gay wedding is in August, for the July one I'll just have to wear regular clothes...sigh. :)

It is therefore, the official position of Hamas that they approve of the consumption of Human flesh.
Only by rabbits. Rabbits are usually not accepted into Hamas ranks in great numbers, although Israeli military is prepared for a Night of the Lepus scenario, should it arise.

To get roughly back on topic, Complexity, what would it take for you to end this boycott of Israel?

When you speak of boycotting you usually boycott product DIRECTLY produced there, not secondary product used in primary product or even product used by invention done decades ago.

OK, well, what the hell does Israel export directly that anybody would buy in the first place? Israeli bacon? All I can think of are those round, burnt matzohs around Passover, and Chabad gives them away for free.

North Korea is officially atheist.

This statement doesn't include a lot of facts and is misleading. They may call themselves atheist, and may say there is no religion, but don't fool yourself. Their religion is worship of the state and the leader. The leader is treated as a god on earth and they are forced to worship him like one. There's even mythology surrounding Kim Jong Il like he came to earth floating on birds or something like that.

Bankrupt the Jewish state. Soften it up for the Jihad.

Is that the goal?
You mean Jihad like in, say, the crusades? Where a certain order of knights made a name for itself by slaughtering its way to a certain temple through Muslims and Jews alike?

Just an observation, mind.

I have had to dump dozens of off-topic posts to AAH, plus some that were also Rule 12 breaches. If I have to do the same again suspensions will follow.

They started it.

Perhaps. Though still, I find your choice of avatar, er ... interesting.
I don't think I would express my sympathy for, let's say, the Polish right to self-determination with an avatar depicting a soviet WWII-era soldier, while describing myself as "Tovarish Ivan" or something, even though the Germans started it.

Enough derailment though, sorry.

[subjective opinion]Boycotts are are almost as stupid as petitions and/or misspelled protest signs![/subjective opinion]

I would call it a theocracy where Kim Jong is god - comparable to the pharaoh (controlling natural forces such as weather and such).

Some of the "citizens" believe he is god too.

If there is no supernatural entity being worshiped, then it's an atheist state whose chief executive has a disturbingly intense fan club.

The Soviet Union and Communist China are/were also examples of atheist states where the veneration of living or dead leaders was strongly practiced (eg. Lenin, Stalin, Mao). None of which ever rose to the level of full fledged religion.

Guardian Deity of the Planet?
and officially there is freedom of religion, officially.

The problem is that boycotting Israel as a form of protest puts you in bed with the usual gang of antisemitic thugs, so perhaps it's not the best way to protest against Israeli policies.

This is something quite different, of course, than saying that protesting Israeli policies in itself is antisemitic -- if that were the case, half of all Israelies would be in jail for hate crimes...

Instead -- for example -- one can write opinion pieces, or to the Israeli president, or to Netanyahu, or to knesset members, etc. contrary to popular opinion such folks tend to listen if the protest is strong enough.

For example, only yesterday the attempt by the right in Israel to establish (in effect) a "council of anti-Israeli activities" was soundly defeated.

I am curious what this observation regarding the events of the Crusades has to do with modern day Israel?

Rule #1 in discussions about Israel is that every shred of criticism of someone else than Israel can be deflected by a "but X do it too!!!!!!111111" dodge, no matter how ridiculous.
