Bigfoot: The Invisible Variety

I searched for "Bill Clinton" "whatever I do should be totally transparent" and found three sites listing a story from AP writer Shannon McCaffrey.

Topix.com
Examiner.com
Ledger-Enquirer

So it could well be a part of the story - interesting that a lot of the main sites didn't include that part of it though.
Given the sense of what he was saying, and the meaning of the term to those who have no invisible axe to grind, it would so reasonable for him to have used it that it seems to me of little importance whether he actually did or not.

Surly you are not suggesting that Historian has embellished the Bill Clinton "Sasquatch" story, creating the "transparent" portion of it are you?
Not at all. I was merely pointing out that the term "transparent" did not appear in any of the stories I saw. I assumed that his crypto link referenced another source - although he did say that it came from AP. And as it turns out, other people have found the "transparent" phrase, so any deliberate manipulation of the story by historian can be safely discounted.

A friend of mine, I've found, actually remembers the press conference where Pres. Carter spoke about Bigfoot. Needless to say, his memory is not exactly in accord with historian's.

According to him, during the press conference, Pres. Carter was asked "Do you believe in Bigfoot?" and Carter replied (in essence - not a direct quote) "I've seen no evidence to support their existence, but I wouldn't rule it out."

Absolutely - it was a throwaway line that didn't really add to the main story, which is probably why the large news organisations dropped it from their reporting. I was merely trying to be objective about the possibility that he never actually used that phrase (as had been suggested) and resolve the issue by cheking the relevant facts ;)

The interpretation of it seems to be obvious to everybody apart from Historian.

A member here said a former us president got involved in this thread Link please .

Involved in that a poster in this thread went and contacted a former president to attempt to verify one of Historian's claims.

Check out post # 1579, for starters.

Jimmy was never a forum member, as far as I know.

I added a link to wikipedia pointing back here because I think it allows a reasonable person to draw their own conclusions pretty darn quickly.

Not directly. I asked Jimmy Carter if he had ever encountered a bigfoot (as historian claimed he had), and he said no. That was about it. Somewhere upthread is a short note he also wrote to me.

Of course Bigfoot (Sasquatch) is inter-dimentional...Didn't any of you watch the Six Million Dollar Man Episodes...That TLC (Time Lapse Converter) worked miracles for Sandy Duncan and Stephanie Powers (who controlled Sasquatch as I recall)...Jeez, you guys need to remember these things...unless you were re-programmed NOT to recall these events by Oscar and Rudy...Hmmm

It seems to me some people are trying to turn wiki into a battle ground I really dont think that is a good idea .
That site as far as I can tell has been a great learning tool for many around the world why would anyone want to disrupt it by trying to start an argument there ?
Correct me if I am wrong but isent wiki a place to add the the knowlage base ?
I dont think they had in mind when they started wiki for it to turn into a center for debate .
Nobody here knows for sure that man is lieing about bigfoots being able to go invisable that arguement should be made on this forum not a place of learning .
He has every right to beleave what he says on there it is not for you to counter anything he says .
If you want to debate him bring him back here going there is internet stalking .

Do you know what wiki means, Creek? It's an acronym for "what I know is". Now believe it or not, that makes wiki subjective, since what each person "knows" is different. For example, I "know" that bigfeets don't exist and you "know" that they do. One of us is wrong, and this is bound to lead to debate.

In order to make it a better learning tool

OK, I will. Isent isn't spelled like that. Neither is knowlage.

They would have been complete mugs if they didn't expect that to happen.

I know he's lying. I suspect there are others. Why wouldn't the Wikipedia Dicussion pages be the appropriate place to discuss Wikipedia content? Have you really thought about this?

Everyone has a right to his or her beleaves. They do not have a right to have them published as fact, even as Wikifacts. (wdne)

If you want to debate him bring him back here going there is internet stalking .

You don't understand the internet or stalking.

Also, could you please explain how you know that punctuation marks require a space before them. and why nobody else knows this?

Not quite as classic as your "I have no time for critical thinking" comment...but awfully darn close!

Not according to wikipedia, except as a later backronym:

Wiki Wiki (/wiːkiː wiːkiː/) is a reduplication of wiki, a Hawaiian word for "fast". In English, "wiki" is an abbreviation of it. However, since its application to consumer generated media, some have suggested that wiki means What I Know Is; this seems to be just a pure backronym.

I realize Creek has left the building, so to speak, but just in case you're still reading: yes, Wikipedia is a good resource for learning, despite its open nature and the amount of error that can creep in. One of the reasons it works is that sane and knowledgeable people can come in and try to correct the lies and rantings of lunatics. An open source should be a spring, not a cesspool.

Just for the record, it was the talk page. And I think it is legitimate when somebody like Historian shows up somewhere with a series of claims to say "hey, if you want to see an exhaustive discussion of these claims, here a URL."

wiki wiki = quick in Hawaiian, I am told.

The point being that the interpretation of WIKI as What I Know Is is a backronym - in other words, a set of words chosen to correlate with the letters of a preexisting word.

Like "ALITALIA" - Arrive Late In Turin, All Luggage In Athens.

The word "wiki" came first, chosen for its meaning, and then the backronym was created.

Geez I miss Creekfreak. And Historian. And Monstro. The Curly, Larry and Moe of Bigfootery. A collaborative thread would have been spectacular. "Spread out, you numbskulls."
