Merged Bigfoot follies

I don't recall saying anything about your grammar or spelling.

Panthers are cryptids in Kentucky because they don't live there.

I don't think that is the definition of cryptid. Panthers are known to actually exist.

I thought he was referring to panthers as crytids but he forgot a comma.

Where are the sets of tracks from bigfoot standing still?

Seems like we should have good sets of tracks, if bigfoot stands still a lot.

Do we even have a photo of such?
I don't think so. Bigfoot may stand still with feet spread out in mid-stride. They don't stand like people do with the feet next to each other.

It is a definition of cryptid.
To me, anything widely reported by the locals but for which the professionals have repeatedly come up empty meets the primary criterion of a cryptid. Thus a black jaguar reported in Guatemala would not be a cryptid but the same animal reported in Kentucky would.

That's right, and it's the reason why Alien Big Cats (ABC) in the UK are considered cryptids and their promoters are cryptozoologists.

Melanistic Jaguars certainly have been proven to exist, they're just extremely rare even in areas with a breeding population of jaguars. Though the Hillbilly will tell you they are sometimes found in KY as well, regardless of the breeding population thing, and he's right.

I disagree, if a black jaguar was found in KY, it would be no different than finding a cougar. KY supposedly doesn't support a breeding population of either species, yet for whatever reason they tend to show up from time to time. So far both have been reported but only the Mountain Lion has been taken. Chris B.

I don't see how analogies about real animals support the existence of bigfoot. No amount of talk will poof a fantasy creature into existence. Bigfoot started as a myth and ended as a joke. That pretty much describes where we're at now.

Who sees them, the "oblivious" folks? Or the folks that see monsters in every shadow?

Maybe this gentleman?

I wonder what the diameter of the circle would be at the point where everyone was pressed together shoulder-to-shoulder.

Assuming a half meter shoulder width, the diameter would be roughly 1/6 x the amount of people involved (in meters).

For example, 11 people standing shoulder to shoulder will result in a diameter of approximately 1.75 meters.

A herd of 194 people would give an enclosed circle of diameter 31 meters.

Methinks a lot of people would need to be roped in.

No, obviously they're not. But it is soothing to know the only errors you can find in my statements seem to be grammar and punctuation. You have emboldened every Bigfoot researcher on the planet. Thanks for that. Chris B.

Panthers live in Kentucky?
You are not even limiting it to Puma. Not only are you going out on that Bigfooter limb and saying Panthera exists in Kentucky, but implying that it is obvious that they do.

This is truly hilarious.

Hillbilly eyes don't lie. :D

Oxford disctionaries

An animal whose existence or survival is disputed or unsubstantiated, such as the yeti.

It mentions nothing about geographical location and I don't think the existence or survival of panthers is disputed or unsubstantiated. Just saying.

I guess there is a colloquial use as any animal that shouldn't be seen where it is being reported. /semantics

Biscuit, you are going to have to inform cryptozoology that they have got their own definition all wrong.

A little investigation will show this fellow was promoted and put into the media by Tom Biscardi.

Yes , there certainly are sighting reports of large cats in KY. A quick Google search of Mountain lions in KY, Mammoth Cave Mystery cat, and this one should give you the info you seek:

Still laughing? Chris B.

Is there are reason why the mods keep removing posts from this thread? I mean, WTF is a Bigfoot folly? Can anyone enlighten me as to what does or does not constitute as a legit Bigfoot Folly? Some guidelines would be smashing, cheers.

You are 100% correct. Panthers are not cryptids. My previous post ended up in AAH. Chris B.
