Merged Bigfoot follies

On a wholly different aspect, the #102 post shows a US map of "firearms registration"...and it's not accurate. Curiously it's been a mistaken notion for a long time, even amongst the locals here. To quote the FAQ of CA's AG page,

"There is no firearm registration requirement in California except for assault weapon owners and personal handgun importers."

Now back to Finding Bigfoot:The Psilocybin Years.

California absolutely registers handguns.

DROS records everything about a handgun transaction, including the serial number.

If you move to California, you have to report your handguns to the state.

I don't think there's any question that California registers handguns at purchase.

The cool part about the Falcon Blimp thing is that no participant will call it a scam no matter how much of a scam it is. That is totally cool and can teach us all about the human species.

Bigfootery is a school lesson on the human species. Bigfootery is what happens when humans find out that they are truly alone on earth.

No, we will make another one and it shall be the boss of the woods.

I'm going to make a prediction.

The Falcon Project will be so poorly executed, that prominent footers will begin to think of it as a joke.

It will be Meldrum's Mistake.

In Bigfootery, Meldrum doesn't make any mistakes that matter. He makes mistakes but they are the kind that don't really matter.

There may not be any flying blimp at all. Barnes may not have gotten the money to make it. There could be a $400 drone flown over the woods and he pretends that it is the $250K blimp. He might even scam all of his volunteers into thinking that the blimp is flying. But nobody involved will say that it is a scam. No Bigfooter will ever be the dog that barks.

All Bigfooters are proper role players. Bigfoot is a pretend game played by adults. It's now an American cultural tradition.

They could just mount a few game cams on helium balloons to get some overhead videos/images. Lots of cash left over...

I think it may be Meldrum's Waterloo.

I don't see how it ends well.

He may even bail on it once he gets further into it.

Eventually they will feel pressure to produce something, and that something will not be much.

I don't see how the Falcon Project fiasco would be any different from Meldrum's previous escapades. This guy has published a book, published what he considers to be a peer-reviewed journal article, been featured in a full-length documentary, become a minor TV and folk festival celebrity, traveled extensively, and been promoted to full professor at a research university based on . . . a feeble and credulous analysis of Roger Patterson's film of a dude in a furry suit.

The Snow Walker incident left Meldrum black and blue, imo.

Snelgrove Lake, too.

He has endorsed the Skookum cast.

He recovered, but he's probably going to get fooled again and put his reputation behind another hoax with this Falcon Project deal.

These things are adding up, I think.

His rep in the bigfoot community may be okay, but outside of it?

With whom are those black marks adding up and on what do you base that assertion? What rep did he have outside the bigfoot community?

<Sorry - before we go off on a deep Meldrum tangent, this might be better served in the Meldrum thread.>

Turtle, once thought extinct, living in a remote jungle, located.

"We distributed point-and-shoot digital cameras to indigenous communities in the remote areas...and asked them to take photos of wildlife they typically encounter in their daily lives," said Rahman. "The results are remarkable!""

The program, called Camera for Conservation, brought in "interesting photos of hunted animals, including great hornbill, clouded leopard, Asiatic golden cat, sambar, Asian brown tortoises," according to Rahman.

Alas... no Bigfootie type creatures.

Nah no need for a seperate Meldrum thread
If his involvement in the Bigfoot Blimpies Project doesn't qualify as a folly...what does!

The science teacher teaches us all about science. He is correct though as Patterson's feat is unparalleled, having fooled scores of credules in the last 40+ years. That this soaring intellect is nearly as impressed with the NAWACers tells us he must be BLAARGing or is as thick as his posts indicate. I truly wish he'd try to foist this stuff in a venue not quite as malleable as the one he currently rejoins.

Oh if only he had the brass to venture into the Tar Pit/BFF or show up here LOL!

He was in the Tar Pit for a while. I paid for his membership actually. $20 was a measly sum for the pleasure of telling him in my own choice of words as frankly as possible what I thought of his ridiculous blabbering.

Anyone else tune him up there?
