Cont: Biden for President? Pt 2

I challenge your assertion it is not normal for this pandemic.

Please support your assertion.

Tens of millions of workers and students all across the country have adapted from 'in-person' to online communication. They do it for many hours every day.

I would have expected him to show himself to be working hard to get his messaging out there- targeting as many groups as possible, like all the other candidates are doing. Like his surrogates are doing.

His days seem to have a lot of empty space.

Biden isn't doing that as much as most of his predecessors. That's what isn't normal.

But it's his campaign. I hope it's part of a strategy. I know I don't need more information for me to vote for the guy who isn't Donald Trump.

Yes, this year people had to adapt to the 'new normal'.

I was actually not comparing him to previous campaigns but to the other candidates running for a competitive office this year that are also in the final stretch. There are a ton of events all across the country- in person and virtual.
People are paying attention more than ever, even with the restrictions.

We know from 2016 that getting even a few thousand more votes in a targeted area can make all the difference to the outcome.

So what's your real point?

So what's your real point?

That he is not taking advantage of these last days to engage the voters!!
It's crunch time.

Why? I could theorize a bunch of different things.
1. It's all sewn up by such a large margin and making a gaffe is worse than energizing a few more votes. (ie, everyone has decided and it is in his favor)
2. He cannot physically maintain a full schedule
3. Some unknown security risk?

I would say avoiding the media, but he can still campaign hard without taking questions (see: Hillary).
Having a big win is MUCH better than 'just a win'. It makes disputing the results much harder which would be a godsend to the country after it is over. (and that is true for both candidates)

What else do you think could be the strategy for pulling back? Or do you think things will ramp up this week?

I'm starting to wonder whether you've read any of the responses to your original comment. Or perhaps you have me on ignore.

il;dr Biden was just in Chester PA giving a speech and is now heading to Delaware for another one.

....

Trump and Pence are literally putting their own supporters' lives at risk by packing them together at their rallies, even in places where there is enough space to distance them. Biden and Harris are holding public events with sufficient safety measures. Which do you think makes more sense?

I take a while to write my posts...so yes, I missed it.

I just saw his surprise visit to PA. Looks like 5min speech and 5 min of questions. Glad to see he is well.

One reporter did ask about the light schedule and Biden said he was going to IA, WI, GA and FL and that they were doing other things and had 12 hour days.

Trump is desperate and his frantic pace reflects that. He's trailing Biden in crucial swing states he won in 2016. jAs such, Biden is more measured. He's going to Georgia tomorrow. He'll also be in Florida, Iowa and PA this week. Your concerns that he's not campaigning 'hard enough' are unfounded.

I am not talking about Trump and his packed rallies. I also get nervous for those people, especially the elderly ones.

I am talking about hours in a day engaging the public in targeted areas- in a safe way.
We'll just have to see how the strategy works. Seems Biden will be traveling a lot more this week.

Biden on Trump pushing baseless conspiracy theories about US health care workers overcounting coronavirus deaths: "What in the hell is the matter with this man?"

I don't know. Considering Biden's momentum, if this were an NBA game I think that Trump should definitely call a Time Out.

How much in-person, virtual event, and media time are considered "normal in a pandemic." Please use a standard time measurement. Please provide how you arrived at this number.

If you have determined that Biden has not had a light schedule lately, then we will just have to agree to disagree.

It's a wait and see at this point.

According to a source familiar with the planning, Bobulinski will play recordings of Biden family operatives begging him to stay quiet and claiming Bobulinski's revelations will "bury" the reputations of everyone involved in Hunter's overseas deals. https://twitter.com/seanmdav/status/1320816641257648128

Yet Harris has people on her team that have tested positive for Covid. How's that work again? When "sufficient safety measures" haven't worked, what now?

And...

Is it possible that Biden's simply not getting coverage because these media folks have yet again decided to concentrate on Darth Clown, Traveling Circus yet again?

(I honestly don't know, since I pay little attention to what's on the news channels in general)

For a a presidential candidate in the final weeks?
I'd say about 6-8 hours of publicly available speaking a week (virtual or in person) and at least 6 hours of other media events, including pool reporters that follow the candidate (virtual or in-person).
I'd say 50% of it targeted at specific audiences, like auto workers or teachers, and the rest a mix of local and national messages (eg. the 'stump ' speech with added flavor depending on the audience).

The rest of the time is strategizing, conversing with party leaders, donors, or business leaders, preparing remarks, traveling, etc... (virtual or in person)

There should also be some more 'fun' normal day-to-day things in there covered by the media to let off some of the voter stress and humanize things a bit. (like the ice cream store visit)
Just my opinion.

How about you?
What do you think?

Lessee here. How was this handled by each?

The positive test for Liz Allen, Harris' communications director, came back late Wednesday night after Allen attended personal, non-campaign events, according to the campaign. A non-campaign flight crew member also tested positive for coronavirus.

So both contracted the virus during non-campaign events. And what did Harris do when notified she'd been exposed?
The campaign says it is temporarily suspending Harris' travel out of "an abundance of caution."

Let's compare that to what Trump and Pence do.

Trump holds an event where not only he contracts the virus, but so do several others attending because they don't distance or wear masks. They hold rallies where they jam people in closely together who also don't wear masks who are yelling. Three of Pence's staff tested positive, including his body man who works closely with him day and night and his chief of staff. Does Pence quarantine himself? Hell no.
