Split Thread BBC news reporting

Many of your recent posts here show precisely what I find annoying about the right.
The biased sources? The quoting of lies? The refusal to accept realities that conflict with the opinions? The creeping fascism? The transphobia? The lying? The apologise for mass murder?

I see Farge has joined anti-BBC crusade.
Typical far left, and far right underhand tactics... Can't find arguments against someone who is now a grown-up, so go on a muck raking campaign to dredge up stuff about him as a schoolboy. Remember Calamity Lammie's claim that Farage was a member of the Hitler Youth... a false claim that he never really apologized for, and never actually withdrew? Well that's Stasi Starmer's mob for you... lies and lies and more lies.

Hey Calamity Lammie - Farage was born in 1964 you moron... do the math... if you can!

ETA: And here is Farage's reply to these allegations... which all you lefties will, in fairness, want to hear... Aye @catsmate ?

A transcript - I've done as requested so that the lazy ones don't have to watch a video... not that I think it will make any difference to the closed minded. They won't read it anyway!

Let's start with Damian Grammaticus from the BBC.
Grammaticus: Can I just ask, you said open about anything. Can I ask us about something different?
Farage: Yes, of course you can. My dear fellow. I would expect nothing less from our favorite national broadcaster.
Grammaticus: Thank you very much. Appreciate that. This morning, Richard Tice said on the radio, he was asked about the comments made by schoolmates of yours who have said that comments you made they viewed as racist and offensive. He said that they were lying. You have said before that you did make comments. It may have been banter. It wasn't directly racially abusing anyone. So, Richard Tice is wrong?
Farage: I thought this morning's performance by one of your lower grade presenters on the Today program was utterly disgraceful. I think to frame a question around the leader of Reform's relationship with Hitler, which is how she framed it, was despicable, disgusting, beyond belief. Are you surprised that half a million people every year refuse to pay the license fee? But let me say this to you. The double standards and hypocrisy of the BBC are absolutely astonishing. At the time I was alleged to have made these remarks, one of your most popular weekly shows was the Black and White Minstrels Show. Right? The BBC were very happy to use blackface. Oh, and not just in the Black and White Minstrel Show. You did it in It Ain't Half Hot Mum as well. And what about Alf Garnet? Do you remember what he called Marigold? Do you remember the word he used to describe Marigold on prime time national TV. I better not repeat the word otherwise you'll all use it and say that I used it. Homophobia. It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Are You Being Served? Oh, and what about Bernard Manning? Perfectly happy at exactly the same time for Bernard Manning to appear on prime time national BBC comedy telling jokes for which these days you'd probably get a knock at the door from our thought police and perhaps get a 31 month prison sentence. I cannot put up with the double standards of the BBC about what I'm alleged to have said 49 years ago and what you were putting out as mainstream content. So, I want an apology from the BBC for virtually everything you did throughout the 1970s and 80s. And I will respond to your direct question. I've received many letters over the course of the last few days from people that I was at school with. This one, I think, is particularly relevant.
Letter: Farage's comments [in brackets]
I was a Jewish pupil at Dulwich College at the same time, and I remember him very well. While there was plenty of macho, tongue-in-cheek school boy banter, it was humor, and yes, sometimes it was offensive [rather like most of the BBC's output] but never with malice. I never heard him racially abuse anyone. If he had, he would have been reported and punished. He wasn't. The news stories are without evidence except for belatedly politically dubious recollections from nearly half a century ago. Back in the 1970s, the culture was very different, [Perhaps Damian, you should reflect on that] especially at Dulwich, lots of boys said things they'd regret today or just laugh at. Whilst Nigel stood out, he was neither aggressive nor a racist. If I can help in any way, let me know.
Farage: And I've had plenty of those messages over the course of the last few days. And I am sick to death of the double standards and hypocrisy, above all, of your organization. And what happened on the Today program this morning was a complete bloody disgrace.

How old was he in 2016?
OK, so holding the belief that people entering your country should be doing so legally is somehow racist. Well that is a position I hold, so I guess that makes me a racist.. which will come as a complete shock to my oldest daughter and her husband.

I live in a country that takes in 1,500 genuine asylum seekers every year... by genuine, I mean they either apply for asylum before they come to this country, or they turn up at a point of entry, WITH their passport and identity documents and ask for asylemn. i.e. they do not destroy their passports and identity documents before they arrive, so that we can never find out who they really are.

Those who try to enter the country without official documents are not asylum seekers, they have broken NZ law as their first act on NZ soil, and they are immediately deported.

Do the math... if you can!

The accusations were about his time at school. Stop trying to deflect and distract from the facts

...
Of course, that's not what Lammie claimed.

I think many of us will have heard the member for Innsmouth's faux outrage, as it was broadcast on several news and current affairs shows. Not to mention repeated in print meejah.

Of course he didn't address his own hypocrisy of accepting free publicity over the years and now biting the hand that fed him 'cos Emma Barnett asked a couple of awkward questions.

And I note that his blowhard barrister (that is the correct spelling?) has yet to follow through all the threats made to the Graun, who have made a lot more of this whole story.

Pedantic nitpickery at its finest... You sound like you're defending the indefensible...

His EXACT CLAIM was that Farage "once flirted with Hitler Youth when he was younger". That still makes Calamity Lammie either a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ liar or a complete ignoramus (and I would not rule out the possibility that he could be both).

How could Farage have flirted with an organization that ceased to exist 19 years before he was born? The fact that these words came directly from the mouth of the Deputy Prime Minister of Britain makes it even worse... the fact that he has NOT apologized for what he said, and hasn't really retracted the statement either, speak volumes about his lack of moral turpitude... it makes him an arse-hole as well.

The fact that you are defending him using such nitpickery tells me that you too put your tribe ahead of the truth. Seriously, if you're going to defend what Calamity said using that as a basis, you really have left the skeptic's room.

Sweet effing jeebus, you're defending Farage now?
That must have been a lot of Flavor Aid you guzzled.....
No, but I will defend the truth wherever I see lies being told. If Farage said that Starmer "once flirted with Hitler Youth when he was younger", I would defend Starmer and call Farage a ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ liar.

The difference between you and me is that you would go with whatever your tribal dogma holds. I will always go with the truth, no matter who speaks it.

To be clear, I think Farage would be an unmitigated disaster for Britain.... but your leftist goverment is doing its best to make it happen because it is selling its people down the river on the back of a cultish far-left belief in the suppression of free speech and policy of wide-open borders with unrestricted immigration. I sincerely hope you don't end up with Farage as PM and Reform as the goverment in 2028, but if you do, you will have got exactly what you deserve, and you'll only have Starmer and the morons he surrounds himself with to blame.

That would be a first....

Good. Now get back to Farage's demonstrated racist and anti-semitic comments at Dulwich, rather than your red herring about the Hitler Youth.

Right.....

Richardson hasn't even gone after NationCymru despite his threats.

Whilst I don't like Farage and diasgree with his politics, I think that comments made in the school yard are irrelevant, the man should not be blamed for childhood sins. I do think there is something distasteful about this rehashing of childhood memories. As a skeptic we should know that memories are malleable, everytime you remember something you remake the memory. I don't believe that memories from forty years ago will be accurate. I for one have no recall of my mother's womb. Eye witness testimony is unreliable. False memories are common, and easily induced.

Not sure the relevance of the womb, no-one is claiming memories go that far back. When 20 different people have corroborating memories of the same thing, I think we can conclude it's quite likely that there's some truth to it.
