BBC 9/11: The Conspiracy Files

Obviously the majority of the British public don't know about all the conspiracy theories regarding 9/11 and people like Alex Jones or Uncle Fetzer like we do so they can't just jump into the core subject.
I think the problem is more that the producers didn't know about them, what was most important. The reality is it wouldn't have been difficult to address at least things like freefall collapse, have a demolition expert talking about the supposed squibs, for instance. And that would certainly have been more effective than talking to Lone Gunmen guy.

It's not that they got everything wrong. It was interesting to see & hear Steve O'Brien, the C-130 pilot. And watch Avery try to misrepresent Wally Miller. But there wasn't much else to it, and I don't think the programme will have much of an effect beyond entrenching everyone's positions. True believer CTs will be outraged; average members of the public will say they always knew CTers were nuts; fence-sitters will remain unconvinced. And we'll all carry on just like before.

I'll echo Jacks sentiment. This is utter crap, i'm screaming at my TV.
I think i scared my cat when the animation showed the pankcake theory to explain the fall of the towers, yet the animation was showing that the 40 odd central columns were still standing but the BBC failed to explain this.
Why were the central columns not still standing, after all they were in the animation.

4,000 Jews stayed away from work claim.

Talk to Cheryl Shames, sister of Andrew Zucker, Jewish man who died on 9/11.

Explains that story came from reports of 4,000 people who might have been in the vicinity of the attacks, not working there. Al Manar TV then put a spin on the story turning it into 4,000 Israelis who didn't turn up for work. Later became 4,000 Jews.

Cheryl Shames says theories crazy. Narrator: around 200 Jews likely to be killed at WTC, in line with New York population.

The bit you missed out was that Al Manar is a mouth piece of Hisbulla...so you can see why they put a spin on it!

Hmmmmmmmmm, fancy that...hisbulla aye. They have some good company in the cult of the 9/11 movement dont they? :D

As the guy said on page 4.

I don't think this show turned anyone into a CT, or changed anyones minds.

I mean, CTs are stubborn and cannot admit it when they're wrong.

Everyone else who had no idea about 9/11 and it's CT as probably already forgot about the TV show.

Yes, I agree!

They're well pleased with it over at nineeleven.co.uk as well.

Not really :)

My favourite quote from there so far:

They also decided to pick the worst people to interview. Fetzer was a freek. Avery looked naive and Jones came across as crazy.

Erm...who else are they supposed to interview? Killtown and Judy Wood?

Very good point!

JAStewart, I was referring to Jackchit at LC forums claiming he's going to cite this programme as the reason for not paying his licence fee.

Can't wait to see what the Magistrate says when he goes to court for non-payment then!

Well, finished seeing it now.

Congratulations to the BBC!
You can always complain about this or that, but on the whole it was excellent.

I especially liked the Indian Lake distance debunk, the interview of the C-130 pilot and the interview with that women who was on flight 89.

Dylan, Alex Jones and Fetzer where shown for what they are. That's good enough for me. :)

Its true. BBC just used their own interviews and footage with the trio of deniers and they themselves showed who they really were. The Alex Jones shouting thing actually freaked me out a big. Top class denial,

I haven’t seen it yet, but it has been recorded for me. Hopefully I will see it when I get home in a few weeks. I look forward to it. The reviews seem highly favorable.
I have to stop watching this BBC ****.
On behalf of the GOOD people of the united kingdom I apologise the BBC should be more than ashamed.
god bless us all, and may the makers of this crap rot in hell...

Why is it that all the witnesses came across as decent honest people, but the CT spokespeople came across as loonies?

I can't work that out at all.

I don't get it, the CTs are saying the BBC has made them look mental?

I mean all they did is film them right, they didn't force them to say anything.

For a TV documentary, it was excellent. I agree with the earlier comment that by debunking as they went, they never allowed the CT mindset to take hold completely. The choice of Alex Jones, Dylan Avery and Fetzer was perfect. They ARE the three biggest names in the movement and they all endorsed gibberish.

The debunking of Indian Lake/United93 debris spread was utterly lethal, I mean, honestly, anyone who tries to pull that one ever again is going to look a complete idiot.

Do-Over really looked like he was struggling not to go 'okay, you win, I misquoted the coroner'. I think he's just about smart enough to know he was caught with his pants down on that one. He may not have fully understood what a simile was but he knew there was a difference betwen someone saying 'looked like' and 'was'.

I think in Britain, the small wave of media coverage will have made a lot of people aware that this is spreading. The Monbiot article in the Guardian, now this BBC documentary... it isn't great coverage for the Truthers. They get airtime, but they get to sound like raving lunatics.

Alex Jones will come across to most Brits as a stereotypical Ugly American, Avery like a slacker, and Fetzer as a blowhard. That's how they'll be seen by most Brits.

Ditto i'll be watching it on Monday night probably, had to tape it as it clashed with '24'!

Glad to hear that the BBC did the right thing and dragged the twoofers out back for an intellectual execution.

Is there a subtle way to make alex jones out to be a nut?

My wife, my wife who dispares at me arguing with these idiots perked up at the "Looser Change" squid bit and just went "what are these morons retarded? Don't they understand the laws of physics?"

I tried to bring her into it, but she just went "this is just your weird [rule8]ing obessesion" I went back to watching the OC on her laptop.
