August Stundie Nomination Thread Of Awesome

You don't need bandages or blood transfusions. Coagulants take care of everything:

You also dont need bandages or blood transfusions, as coagulants heal & repair all cuts & wounds instantly

Also coagulants stop pain immediately

I never use bandages, I just use a blood clotting agent & it heals all cuts & wounds instantly, it’s almost like having wolverines healing factor

Which is why ambulances dont use something as simple as blood clotting agents for road accidents

Bandages & blood transfusions are useless, use activated charcoal on cuts, it’ll heal cuts & injuries instantly

If you need a blood transfusion, drink sea algae, it’ll increase you’re blood levels dramatically, without ever needing a drop of blood

I needed blood transfusions, when I had ulcerative colitis, no transfusions needed whatsoever …

Usain Bolt as agent of Satan and signifier of the end times.

Though, the cameras do not show it, Bolt moves his numbers from his thighs to his chest. He then stands on lane 6, the lane he started the race in, completing the number 666. A bolt of lightning then strikes just after he crosses the finish line.

I may have spotted the flaw in the argument. :D

I love it how Lux over on clues forum then tries to cover his mistake up by claiming the captions has "changed" since he first saw it... lol

Seriously, what is it about conspiracy theorist that they cannot admit they make mistakes?

Acknowledging the possibility that they may be wrong then means that they must acknowledge the possibility that their theories could be wrong. But their theories can't be wrong, therefore, they must always be right.

Not only does he claim the captions changed, he also claims they are trying to get people to believe the artist's rendering is a real picture because of the title of the article. Apparently he doesn't know how to scroll down to see the pic.

Besdes the fact that every runner in lane 6 will have number 6 hip numbers. That's what those numbers signify, what lane they are running in.

So what you're saying is, there's a Satanist in every race!!!!

They don't have to read stuff (or understand any of it) on the clueless forum to know it is all faked. They just know.

And what happens if your own comrades in nuttiness point out the mistakes to you? 'They' obviously changed stuff:

^ Yes -- easy to see now but the page changed since i posted my original comments. The original caption stated that the pink planet image was the photo.

This strongly suggests to me that someone at space.com is monitoring this forum.

Yes. Yes of course they are, it's the only possible answer.

Many conspiracists appear to get a feeling of superiority from their "inside knowledge". To acknowledge a mistake is to breach that.

That thread has a lot of good examples. For instance, lux asks and answers one of his "big questions", but then just throws away the (actually correct) answer for stupid reasons:

But, why did they ever use liquid fuel for these "manned" rockets in the first place? It's much more difficult to build a liquid duel rocket motor than a solid fuel motor (ask Goddard) and the only advantage to liquid fuel (that I know of) is that you can adjust the thrust or turn it on and off. But these rockets "headed for space" just burn full blast until they run out of fuel and then drop the empty stage away and go on to the next one (theoretically).

Yes, the ability to throttle liquid fuel engines is exactly why they are used. Because that gives you at least some capacity to abort a mission prior to reaching orbit, if something untoward happens during launch.

That, and the ability to turn off and restart the engine, which can be useful. Can't do that with solid fuel rockets. That's why solids are only used in 1st stage applications.

Family went to Promontory Point and saw the "golden spike" railroad museum last week. Just 2 miles down the road is ATK (aka Morton Thiolol), the place that built the Space Shuttle's SRBs among other things. They have a nice display of rockets out front of the main entry building. A notable feature of the layout of their facility, as viewed from the road, is the distance between the various buildings, to keep one disaster from setting off another. Solid fuel rocket grains are scary flammable stuff -- all things being equal, liquid fuel systems are a bit safer to make, and they were pretty mature technology by the 1960s.

Yes, and that's another reason why liquid fuels are preferred - you can choose when in the launch sequence to actually put the fuel in the rocket, so it's not all sitting there as a giant bomb the entire time you're working with it.

And another point! Since the mass of a rocket constantly decreases as it burns off fuel, a non-throttle-able (Apparently that's not actually a word?) rocket actually increases its acceleration as time advances:

http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/k-12/rocket/rktpow.html

So, by using liquid fuels, they can control the rate of acceleration during launch, not just the amount of thrust, so as to not exceed structural or aerodynamic limits of the vehicle.

I wonder, has anyone linked these guys to the game Kerbal Space Program? It would be amusing to see their reactions....

Not just limits of the vehicle; on the Saturn V launches, the center engines were powered down partway through the burn of the first two stages in order to prevent excessive G loads on the astronauts. A nearly-empty S-V first stage would put out a lot of thrust.

He followed up with:

Another poster pointed out that the earth would outweigh the sun only if lead is 333,000 times denser than the current makeup of the earth. Which it isn't.

Brainiac's reply is brilliant.

wobs, whatever, no one can actually say these figures are accurate, since density varies, even on our own planet, so end of the day these figures are a best guess, based on average dispersion of matter and so on, don't forget the sun can spew millions of tons of matter into the space through eruptions, so no one could actually work out a steady weight for both sun and the earth, as earth itself gets matter deposited during meteor and other space debris falling to earth, and we keep taking out some via space exploration.

So in the end your figures are just as good as mine. Play your bongos now!

We don't know the precise mass of the earth and sun, so our guesses are totally equivalent.
