Atheists destroy churches, attack the faithful

The part I enjoyed the best, this:

"Do you realize that the Chinese administrations since Mao have lifted the country from third world status to a modern industrial state with one of the most powerful economies in the world?

- Yes, their concern for human rights is ... deplorable."

the celebration of their achievements and the grudging acknowledgment of their human rights abuses.

Sure they run over their citizens with tanks, and put a million muslims in camps, but they sure make nifty iPhones.

Well you do like their nifty products. Your house is full of them (unless you are Amish).

But the important part is that they have lifted half a billion people out of poverty. They have lifted a billion people out of analphabetism (sp?).

They have improved health and life expectancy for the population.

And yes, there are problems. With pollution, human rights, democracy.

But this is a country that has never known democracy or human rights. We must hope they get it eventually.

... Ah, but I know this is way too complicated, way over the head of your simple trolling agenda. But if you are ready for some surprises, read a few books about China. Perhaps visit the country and speak to the people.

Appears to be Roman Catholic, based on some other threads.

Christ.

I hope if he has any kids he doesn't leave them alone with the clergy.

No wonder he's so quiet about the Pope's submission to Chinese control of the Church in China. It's got to really burn to know the man allegedly chosen by God to lead the church is kowtowing to a largely atheist government.

Actually the important thing in this thread is that they have put 1 million people in camps and restricted the human rights of 90 million others.

Be careful of the tanks!

and your suggestion?
A cruise missile strike on the Central Committee?

that is not the real question, not all, in fact that detracts from the real question: which is how can we effectively stop this actual on going human rights abuses.
This thread should have been a lay up for everyone, instead we get this no true atheist/whataboutism/victimization nonsense.

Ah yes, we should have all gathered that from the OP:

Ah yes, we should have all gathered that from the OP:

Yes, you should have.

here is what the responses should have been:

Yes, that is appalling.

Or maybe

While I do not agree with your characterization of state atheism, I absolutely agree it is appalling.

Instead, the race to the bottom started in the very next post, suggesting that my post was more appalling in comparison to actual human rights abuses, to hate speech, to so many atheists playing the victim that the number of them who nailed themselves to the cross made Calvary look like a tea party.

The premise of this thread is bigotry in its most basic form. It's no different than:

"Blacks massacre children in Rwanda."

"Homosexuals spread HIV virus to millions of victims."

"Christians drop nuclear bombs on Japanese civilians."

"Left-handed man murders thirteen women in Boston."

"Jews charge high rents in Brooklyn."

The way to respond isn't to argue that dropping the bomb was a complex decision with some strong factors in favor, or to explain the economic forces behind high rents in New York City, or to point out that certain right-handed men have been more prolific serial killers, or to protest that of course you oppose the massacre of children. It's to recognize straightforward bigotry and straightforwardly dismiss it as such.

You did notice that very many posts by atheists noted that the abuses were appalling, yes?

So, in fact, you did get those expected responses.

And even here, I do not see "the real question" in your OP or what you expected the responses to your OP to be.

Mmmm, there is the bigotry card, followed up a series of terrible analogies! Sensational.

Official Atheist CCP cracks down on religious minorities.

And the concern is with the Official Atheist CCP! Really remarkable.

Really really remarkable at this point

But as "appalling" as the attacks on the poor atheists? Nope.

You see, as soon as one start saying my posts are hate speech, or that the Chinese have done good things, or whatabout the Aztecs, or whatabout the catholics, etc etc etc... you are in fact contradicting the lip service that the abuses was appalling.

More really good advice from TBD

"The Human rights abuses are appalling, but" NO. STOP! THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THAT YOU SHOULD WRITE HERE "even worse is TBD's" (massive trainwreck follows)

I'm glad that one poster is enough for you to say all atheist posters on this site are horrific. In fact, it kinda falls into the rest of your world view quite nicely.

It's hate speech. I disagree about it being mere bigotry.

This is The Big Dog Hate Speech Thread.

One good thing will come from this: by post #6000 he'll start to develop some weak but true (as in "not feigned") feelings of empathy towards those Chinese Muslims who were incarcerated.

I am glad that you were able to put together such an impressive strawman so quickly, particularly given that I did not accuse anyone of being horrific, AND I cited "arguments" from numerous different posters and you topped it off with a sniff and a

"it kinda falls into the rest of your world view quite nicely."

Which hat tip for that little snarky cherry on what was a spectacularly fallacious 'argument."

Funny how that works. Having your fly open draws the "your fly is open" card. Vomiting on the couch draws the "you vomited on the couch" card. Bigotry draws the bigotry card. Go figure.

"Official Black Hutu extremists massacre children in Rwanda.

Yep. Bigotry.
